Character Animator body tracking now in Beta

Our team is working hard on a version of Character Animator that includes body tracking. If you are interested in evaluating this work in progress, download Character Animator (Beta) from the Beta apps section of the Creative Cloud desktop app.

I just tried to export a short recording here with the betas of CH and AME and it worked okay for me. I did have to import directly into AME though because going the CH File > Export route opened up the wrong version of AME by default for me.

 

Sometimes I get failures and I've been able to solve them by:

  • Restarting my computer
  • or, saving a duplicate of my chproj and trying that new version instead.

 

In a worst case scenario, you could File > Export > PNG Sequence and WAV and then bring that into AME or PR to make a video that way. But this should be working for you.

 

If it keeps up, can you let us know what it says in the failure log file that should appear in AME?

Hi,

I really appreciate the time and attention you’re giving me. I tried everything suggested earlier today. I even uninstalled and reinstalled both pieces of software before reaching out to Adobe help. After they told me that they don’t help with Betas I went to the community.

Concerned that maybe I had done something wrong, I tried to export one of the premade files, and I got the same thing.

I successfully exported 6 files before getting the error messages. I’ve attached a screenshot of Ch & Me Betas FYI.

Unfortunately I don't see an attachment. If you click the icon next to the failue message, that should bring up a text log file. If you scroll all the way to the bottom you'll see your most recent attempts. If you copy and paste one of those failure states, we can learn more about why it may be failing.

Here is the file you asked for.  Creative Cloud notified me about an update for ChBeta yesterday and today.  I updated it, and it still did not work.

Hi, 

 

One more thing, I first started experiencing this problem after successfully exporting 6 files.  When I attempted to export my 7th file, I received a message stating that I needed to intall MeBeta, but it was already on the computer. 

 

I restarted the computer and tried it again.  I got this message about 4 times.  So I uninstalled and reinstalled MeBeta and it finally stopped giving me the to install.  However, after trying to export the file, that's when I started getting the failure message. 

 

Hope this helps. I will take the time to wipe my computer clean if necessary and reinstall absolutely everything or preferably give you control of my computer so that you can see what's going on for yourself if you have that ability.  

 

Kind of desperate for it to work for me.  I absolutely love the Beta version.

Talked to a developer, who found it strange that there are no failures listed in the log file, and only one "file successfully encoded." What do you see after pressing the green play button? Is there like a yellow error icon with "Failed", a strikethrough red circle with "Stopped", or something else? And if you go to File > Show Errors in AME Beta, does anything show up or is it just blank?

Here are screenshots to show what I'm seeing after exporting the Chad file to which I made no changes. 

 

Step 1 = What I see after pressing the green play button.

Step 2 =  A yellow error icon with "Failed"

Step 3 = File > Shown Errors in AME Beta

Hi Dave. 

 

Just wanted to let you know that I wiped my computer clean (in case there was a virus keeping the software from working correctly) and then reinstalled the Creative Cloud and both Betas of Ch and Me. 

 

It still doesn't work and I used the Chad file as a tester.

Good morning oksamurai,

 

I did some research over the weekend and saw that there were others that had this same problem (getting the message to install Media Encoder when it was already on the machine, and then all of the sudden they could not export videos).  So, in an attempt to be thorough and not a bother, I am in the process of running the CC Cleaner on my computer.  I did not do this before and I hope this will allow me to reinstall a fresh copy of the Betas. 

 

I decided to do this since after wiping my computer clean and reinstalling the software, it still did not work. I am hoping that is because there were some hidden Adobe files that stayed on the computer that are the culprit. I'll keep you posted.

 

Thanks for giving me your time.  I know that you are busy...I don't take it for granted. 

 

Next step...throwing the computer out of the window.  YIKES!!!

Is "D:/SLRLP" your only drive on the computer? If there's another one (C?), try saving to that and see if it works.

Hi Dave, 

 

You are so special to me.  I really appreciate you.  I will change from D to C:/ however, I use my D: drive because the C drive only has 68 GB where as the D drive has 991 GB.

 

The other files that exported without problem were saved to the D drive as well.  Changing to C to see if that solves the problem.

Hi, 

I saved it to the C drive, but it still failed.  I think I'm going to try to figure out how to do it the Save as png way that you suggested. 

 

I don't mind doing the extra work if it gets me what I want.

YAY!!!!  I exported it the png way and it worked.  I just need to practice making sure the lips are synced correctly.  I'll spend my day doing that tomorrow because now...it's time to relax with a Microsoft Puzzle. 

 

Again...thank you for your phenomenal assistance.  This may be a little more work, but it's worth it to me.

Hi,

 

I've just found out about Character Animator a week ago. And I've been playing with it since last week. Just few days ago I found out this beta program (with body tracking function). I've just installed it. Works just fine for me. Though it may mentioned, depending on the puppet design, I also learn that most of the movements are 1 dimensional movements. I do hope in the actual release, it comes with an ability to detect when I flip my body/limbs/hands. Because I've tested it using the puppet Taro. I noticed that when I flipped my right hand palm facing the camera (thumbs to my left), the thumbs was on the opposite side (thumb was on the wrong side). I hope this could at least be improved.

hi ive seen your viedo on youtube but when I try to open hopcotch or any other full body character it doesn't show me the body tracking icon I tried downloading from https://pages.adobe.com/character/en/body-tracker but I gives an error I will attack an image of the error below I've tried every puppet from the website but it still gives the same error  I am using version 4.4 when I try to update it say you are up to date with the latest version therefore i am not able to use the body tracking feature please help me with thisScreenshot 2022-01-04 155345.png
