How can I improve mouth shapes for better lip-sync

Hello,

I'm having a hard time to get this parrot puppet right. It's my first time making an animal puppet, and I can't seem to find a good material on bird lip-sync for animation. It's more of a design problem. Can anyone help me please?

Oh man, good question - this is new to me. If I were you I'd rent Aladdin and see how they do Iago's mouth. Or find any other animated bird as reference material and go frame-by-frame to see how they do different mouth shapes.
