How to upload a psd file to character animator?

Enthusiast ,

I had to modify some psd files from a character animator character.  I made one change and saved the document with a different name under with a .puppet at the end.

I tried to open it with Character Animator and it doesn't open because it doesn't recognize the format.

Any ideas of what am I doing wrong?

The original files open .psd and .puppet open just fine in photoshop and animator, but the modify .puppet file doesn't open in animator.

A .puppet file is actually a .zip file with the extension changed. So you cannot rename a .psd file to .puppet. The PSD is one of many files inside the puppet export file. You can import the PSD file into CH and rerig the puppet, or you can import the .puppet interchange file into CH then update the PSD file used by that puppet (easiest I suspect). If you import the .puppet file, single click on the puppet in the project panel and the first property over in the properties panel will be the path

Copy your modified PSD file over the top (or use "Edit Original" to merge the changes in via Photoshop).

Apparently you know your stuff... thank you much..

I clicked above the "Name" and the puppet was highlighted on a yellow square..

Then on the upper right hand side there was a blue C:\ address with the original psd files.. so I clicked on it and change the address to the modified psd files .. and bang! .. I got the puppet I wanted.

Thank you much 🙂
