Opacity problem

I want to use a fading appearance/disappearance of a character, but it looks like this:

I used translation software to convert Japanese to English.

I ran into the same problem before.
If you check the "Group Opacity" checkbox, you can change the overall transparency.
However, it is usually grayed out and cannot be checked.
Here is the solution.

1) Create an opacity controller.
2) Turn on the red circle.
3) You can check the "Group Opacity" box.

There was an easier way.
Lower the transparency, and the Group Opacity checkbox will be enabled.
