Can't Install CF2023 on MacOS Ventura

Explorer ,
Jun 29, 2023 Jun 29, 2023

As with the previous version, I am unable to install CF2023 on my Mac running Ventura 13.3.1 (a) (22E772610a).

When I try to run the installer it is not allowed until I click "Allow Anyway" in the Privacy and Security settings. Then I run the installer again and this time the same thing happens for "java".  But even when I click "Allow Anyway" amd rerun the installer I always get stuck at the "java" part.  Very frustrating.  I had the exact same issue before and it was never solved.  I assume no one on the ColdFusion team acatully tried to install it in on OSX?

Any help or thoughts?

SOLVED: After I mounted the ColdFusion_2023_GUI_WWEJ_macos.dmg and the "ColdFusion 2023 Installer" was available, I went to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Developers Tools. There I added the ColdFusion 2023 Installer.  After I did that, I was able to run the installer and, so far, it seems to have worked.  I'm not sure why this info is not more easily availale for those who download the Mac installer.

Anyway, I hope this helps someone else.

Thank you for this solution! 🙏

I was facing all the same issues. I did also try running "xattr -rc" on the dmg but it didn't seem to help so I followed your solution and now I have CF2023 successfully running on my Mac. I usually just do all the CF stuff with my Windows VM. I'm looking forward to seeing what I can accomplish without the Win VM.

Great to see the solution. Thanks for replying to it, Dusty. Somehow I missed this when it was offered by Twoedge, after I'd offered an answer (appearing below now) .

It will be intesesting to hear if this solution is in any way specific to either Ventura or cf2023 (later installers of cf2021 did add m1 support)...or perhaps specific in some way to someone's Mac setup.

And are you two on arm (m1 or m2) or Intel, in case that's indeed somehow a factor?

Thank you Charlie! I'm still on Intel but soon getting new machine and I think all that's offered is the new M2. I'm sure it will get interesting. On another note, I've been meaning to reach out to you for a server tuning and Fusion Reactor consult. Hopefully I'll see you and get a chance to speak with you at CF Summit.

Cheers,
Dusty

Thanks. I've refined my last comment--asking now about "arm (m1 or m2)", to be more generic. That said, I've not heard whether Adobe is yet supporting m2 with any cf edition, though it may not need to be specific to either processor but just generic to arm. Time will tell. 🙂

As for future tuning/FR needs, I'll be happy to help of course. And as for the summit, I'll be presenting so am easy to find at least in that time slot. 🙂

thanks for saving me!

i wanted to add some steps i had to take.

mac os 14.4 Apple M3

-click the dmg file and it will open in a new sorta finder window.

-drag the installer icon to your desktop

-now go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Developers Tools and find (add) this file on your desktop

It looks like it does not allow you to add an exception to any file inside the download folder.

i did not run  "xattr -rc” FYI

installed fine after adding the exception, then "control-clicking - open" on the dmg file on the desktop. i am at the CFAdmin locally and that's as far as i have got for now.

@TwoEdge , Thanks for sharing the solution. It will certainly help fellow developers using ColdFusion on MacOS.

Had you tried what's indicated in the cf2023 release notes :

"On macOS, before launching the ColdFusion installer, run "xattr -rc” command against the installer dmg."

I'm not saying that IS the solution to that specific error, but it sure seems it may be...and seems also to counter your last point, otherwise how would they know to suggest it?
