I have been in the business of contracting virtual servers for nearly 10 years. My first company I worked with was Adgrafix from New England. They were absolutely super! Then they got bought out by Hosting.Com and I didn't dare staying with them. I then spend several years coming/going via different ones. Most of these outfits these days are hiring tons of virtuals hosts themselves and then sell it to you for a small priceup. Support typically terrible and when things go wrong, they are not equipped to give proper support.

I do business consultancy and often build sites for my clients in the process. In business consultancy, one of the big things to look for is 'how does somebody communicate?' Are the responding fast, civil and respectful, intelligent and knowledgeable.' If they don't: Stay away from them.

The ticket typically takes a little longer (but generally well within 24 hours). Uptime is tracked by me always, using http://host-tracker.com.
Uptimes for my different sites in total periods well over a year = 99.41% , 99.74% , 99.79% , 99.78% , 99.91% and 99.89%. So there's no problem there :-)

Their pricing is super too. They also offer near unlimited databases. I work a lot with MySQL and am nibbling on MS SQL (which they offer as well).

And... I am based in Canada. But... what does your location matter when you're working on the internet. These people are located in Kentucky. From a business or a performance standpoint, it does not matter at all.

Conclusion: Go sign up with www.ixwebhosting.com or check them out yourself. I can not give a stronger recommendation.
