Copy VM from Production to test server

Participant ,

Is it possible to copy my production VM (CF 2021, MSSQL) from Production to test server?
Or do I need to reinstall CF2021 on the test server and then copy the site cfm files to the test server?

Could you please provide more information about your setup.

Production-server Operating System? Test-server Operating System? VM brand and version? CF2021 update level?

I am not familiar with Rectitude GovCloud.  So, I can only offer general VM suggestions.

Yes, it is usually possible to copy a ColdFusion VM installation from one server (Production) to another (Test).
One general way to do so is to clone the VM. You can usually do that using your virtualization platform's tools. When you do, ensure that the clone is not started immediately after cloning, to avoid network conflicts.

If in severe doubts or difficulties, then do it the traditional way: reinstall CF2021 on the test server and then copy the site cfm files to the test server.

How ever you do it, please return and share your experiences with the forum.
