Is there any possibility that resetting the admin password in coldfusion 10 would affect the operation of the software? In other words, would there be any other programming with this password? We are taking over an installation of the product and do not have access to the admin interface due to unknown password

Thanks

No, this shouldn't change anything else. The file that you're changing also has information about other logins if any exist, so you could potentially break those logins if you introduce other changes in the file. But you should just back up the file anyway before you make any changes.

I would honestly just leave it blank, then put in a new one after you've made sure it's working.
