Hello, I have a problem while migrating from 2016 to coldfusion 2021.

After installation I try to install the connectors, so I run wfconfig it asks me to choose my site (on iis) I choose the site and I get an error message.

Version 16.0 is installed. Supported versions are 4.X, 5.x, 6.x, 7.x, 8.x, 10.x.

I would like to migrate to 2021 but I'm stuck (I specify that I have two standard coldfusion 2021 licenses).

I think, like @w49369461 , you're running an old version of wsconfig. Navigate to the 2021 version and run that explicitly.

What is the operating system (version)?

To confirm, you are running the wsconfig from the 2021 installation?

Have you fully patched CF2021?

Hello Michael,

Please follow below steps for migrating  connector settings from Coldfusion 2016 to 2021

1 Open command prompt as administrator

2 Run wsconfig for Coldfusion 2016 and remove connectors, for this navigate to C:\Coldfusion2016\ cfusion\runtime\bin

   and run wsconfig.exe ,

3 Once it launches make a note of existing connectors that you have created and remove the connectors

4 Once the connectors are removed from Coldfusion 2016, navigate to Coldfusion 2021 and run the c\wsconfig

   C:\coldfusion2021\cfusion\runtime\bin>wsconfig.exe

once it launches create the connectors and check if it is working

What about trying these steps:

  1.  Make sure CF2016 is uninstalled or completely disabled. Verify in Services. In fact, restart Windows.
         Restart IIS.
    2.  Upgrade CF2021 to latest update level. Run CF2021's wsconfig.exe

Whatever the case, we would be interested in what the following log file says:

  • C:\Coldfusion2021\config\wsconfig\{magic-number}\isapi_redirect.log

Seems like IIS keep some informations even if you remove it all manually .. only Workaround is to uninstall IIS then reinstall to clear it, then the wsconfig Works.

Seriously Adobe you need to consider more your customers and take care of them, lots of customers still works with CF2016 and will migrate soon or later to CF2021 or more.

This error came on my 3 servers, you need to work on your wsconfig and try to find which value in IIS history cause this issue. If you can't or don't want to ... juste give the source and i will work on it.

It's not acceptable to let customers trying to find themselves your bugs  ...

I think to avoid this issue you need to run WSCONFIG from the 2016 instance FIRST, remove the connections and THEN you can uninstall 2016.  That was how I did it and it worked perfectly for me.
