Hi Adobe,
are you serious about deprecating RB?
We are producing thousands of pdf files every day based on cfr-reports.
Reporting is a big usage-area for CF in many companies I think.
Why are you abandoning it?
Is there already a plan when RB will no longer be available in CF?
What are your recommendations on alternatives to use?
Will Crystal Reports be supported in the future or is this to be dropped, too?
Would be nice to have a statement on this.
Thank you
Jörg

Hi Jörg,
my words!!!
We are running several CF-Servers. The main reason for us to buy licences for an expensive product like Coldfusion were the great PDF-features and especially Report Builder. Instead of developing a great tool further they decided now to drop it....unbelievable!
Guess that will be the end of Coldfusion in our company.

Jorg, I too use Report Builder extensively and hope Adobe reconsiders. Of-course you can still use version 10 of the Report Builder with CF2016. I just worked thru an issue with Charts on my reports, but everything is working now.
See this post: Does Report-Builder Chart Wizard work at all?

We are in the same boat with <cfreport> and Report Builder, despite my colleague having been assured several years ago that those features wouldn't be messed with in future CF releases. I am overwhelmed at the thought of recreating all of our .cfr files in another format.

Do keep in mind that "deprecated" does not mean "obsoleted". With the latter, the feature is removed. With the former, it remains but is not updated. That may be what the "assurance" several years ago was about.
If it's of consolation, note that the parameterexists function was marked "deprecated" (in favor of isdefined), before the turn of the century, and yet it remains available. That doesn't mean cfreport and cfr file support will NOT go away, but it does mean it will not be updated, and someday something about it will perhaps not work and then folks will be out of luck.
But for the foreseeable future, it seems you can expect to not have to "recreate all the CFR files", until the day Adobe says in some preview of a new release that CFREPORT is being OBSOLETED/removed.
