Authorizing your ereader with ADE
In most cases you can register your ereader quickly and simply. IF the following instructions do not work, please contact our ereader manufacturer directly.
1. Connect your ereader to your computer.
2. The ADE Authorize Device window will pop up. [On rare occasions where the pop up does not happen automatically, please try pressing CTRL + SHIFT + E after connecting your ereader.]
3. Click on Authorize Device.
4. ADE should now recognize your ereader, and will list it within the “Bookshelves” area of the ADE window.
Note: Nook readers come with an Adobe ADE type directory preinstalled. It MUST be deleted from the Nook before ADE will recognize the Nook. Delete the directory from the Nook. Fire up ADE and everything works perfectly!
For error: "E_ACT_TOO_MANY_ACTIVATIONS http://adeactivate.adobe.com/adept/Activate 552:8552:8552 urn:uuid:5268ee4f-5511-4b47-b668-f42b089db9c0"
Resolution: Open a ticket from Adobe Support Portal and request to reset the ADE activation limit (happens when you try to activate the device/computer more then 6 times). Include the error message and the Adobe ID used to activate ADE.
Ctrl+shift+T will enable error logging and can be used to find the issue with the complicated errors by Adobe specialist.
If you get error: E_AUTH_FAILED http://adeactivate.adobe.com/adept/SignInDirect email address

I bought a Sony ebook reader. Then I went to Adobe Dig
ital Edition and bought several ebooks.
One ebook shows up on the Adobe - they are paid for - about 5 books are unacknowledged.

When you purchase eBooks it will be protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM) protection that restricts the items from being shared with others. However, Digital Editions helps ensure that your eBooks and other digital publications are not "locked" on one computer — they are assigned to you through your Adobe ID (email address used to registered Adobe.com account).
If you authorize your computer with an Adobe ID, then it will always be associated with that Adobe ID. If you do not, the account is "anonymous".
Here's how it's supposed to work (and does)
1. Authorize ADE with an AdobeID
2. Attach Sony Reader (or other supported device) and authorize it with your AdobeID (up to 6 devices)
3. Buy books
4. Transfer books to Sony Reader.
5. Authorize ADE with an AdobeID on a seperate computer - up to 6, and be able to transfer and read content
It sounds like you've tried that but if you have not, please try the above steps. You can redownload the eBooks and tranfer it to the same Adobe ID used to purchase.
Once you are sure you have the Reader authorized to the correct AdobeID, transfer one of the books in ADE, and verify that when you unplug the Reader, that you can read the book on the reader.

I've got ADE working on my Windows 7 machine and my iPad. Both downloaded the DRM content and are available to me to read. However, when I download the ADE app to my iPhone and authorize it, it does not download the books.
Any ideas?

Set your Computer to work with our eBook provider
1. Download and install Adobe Digital Editions. This software requires Flash.
2. Open up Adobe Digital Editions. It will ask you to activate your software with an Adobe ID.
3. If you create an Adobe ID:
a. You may download the book to more than one computer as long as the computers all
use the same Adobe ID. (Up to 6 computers can be activated using one Adobe ID.)
b. You can transfer your eBooks only to Nooks that are using the same Adobe ID.
4. If you decide to continue anonymously:
a. You will not be able to transfer eBooks to your Nook!
b. You may only download to one computer.
c. You can activate an Adobe ID at any time. However, you may lose the rights to see any
eBooks that were downloaded previously.
5. We recommend that you create an Adobe ID. Follow the steps to do so.
6. Activate your Nook by plugging it into your computer with Adobe Digital Editions open.
7. Adobe Digital Editions will detect your Nook and ask to activate it using the same Adobe ID as
your copy of Adobe Digital Editions. Follow the prompts. (It may take a few minutes for Digital
Editions to see your Nook.)
Getting your eBook on to your Nook
1. Open up Adobe Digital Editions.
2. Plug in your Nook. If you have not previously set it up, Adobe Digital Editions will ask to register
your Nook using the same Adobe ID as your Digital Editions.
3. Your Nook will appear on the left under Bookshelves.
4. To transfer your eBook to the Nook, click on your previously downloaded eBooks and drag them
to the Nook icon. The book will transfer.
5. Unplug your Nook.
6. To find your new eBook, go to My Library.
7. On the touch screen, scroll up until you see My Documents.
8. Your new book will be in My Documents.
9. Enjoy!

sandy1922 thanks a lot for the instructions how to fully remove Adobe Digital Editions from my computer. It had become corrupt. One note, see below, your step 5 didn't make sense. However, the previous registry edit removed my Adobe ID/License and Activation Keys. Cheers!

I have had many of the previously mentioned problems and error messages and the thing that finally fixed my problem (after all the other recommendations listed here failed) was to simply create a new bookshelf within ADE 4.5 and everything started working.

Certainly seems like a whole lot of work in getting something the work. I check out books from 3 libraries. I'm running Windows 10 and also have a table and phone. Adobe certainly hasn't addressed any present day technologies with the Digital Editions. Thank goodness I certainly would very angry if I had purchased a book and I was stuck in this way. Just won't check out books that are associated with the Digital Editions. Maybe its easier with Apple they seem to be migrating toward the platform more than any other technology.

Hello,
I am a KOBO user. I was using ADE 4.5 on Win 10. At some point ADE stopped working. Kobo customer service suggested to go back to ADE 3.0. After installation it worked fine for a a couple of weeks. Then it stopped working. I uninstalled ADE. I followed the instructions to remove I followed these instructions to remove all remnants of ADE. After that, reinstalled the ADE again. But it never starts. Immediately I get ADE stopped working message and it stops. I tried to reinstall many times, no success.
I searched in the forums but I couldn't get a similar situation. Many suggestions are simply trial and error.
I hope Adobe had a good repair tool.
Any ideas?
Cheers, Hakan

Where did you find the 3.0 download? Having a problem since downloading the latest version on my new computer. Can't open books. Have gotten no help from Adobe; they closed my ticket. Was thinking I might install an older version but can't find it. Can you help?

I downloaded adobe digital editions and purchased and saved ebooks in my library without creating an adobe ID. However I would like to know whether I would lose the books that are currently stored on my library if I sign in with my Adobe Id that I have just created? Will the books in my library be synced?

Hi,
I'm getting the Too many Activations error. When I follow the online chat support system I'm informed that the email address I give them is NOT associated with an Adobe ID so they cannot help me
It jolly well is, for the past 3 years!!! I've purchased 154 books using it and all worked a treat until five days ago (19th April 2017).
Please help, this problem has reduced me to tears.
The email address for my Adobe ID (the one I've bought all my books under and the one I've used to sign in and browse these forums looking for help) is claire.crawford1963@yahoo.com
I've deauthorized and reauthorized my computer no-end of times, I've even tried the book vendor id 'thing' - that gets me nowhere, my books have all been purchased from the Google Play bookstore, I know my google email address and password but Adobe Digital Editions insists that I'm entering incorrect details for that too!!!

Hello.
I have the error: E_GOOGLE_DEVICE_LIMIT_REACHED
Support via chat told me I have to follow this thread, without any help, after I said that if I was able to solve it by myself I wouldn't have contacted them.
Anyway, I tried to follow the steps about:
I am getting the error 'Error getting License: License server communication problem: E_LIC_ALREADY_FULFILLED_BY_ANOTHER_USER' when opening Adobe Digital Editions.
I already did it before, but I did it again. Obviously nothing happened.
The only other solution in this thread that I think it could help me is this one:
For error: "E_ACT_TOO_MANY_ACTIVATIONS http://adeactivate.adobe.com/adept/Activate 552:8552:8552 urn:uuid:5268ee4f-5511-4b47-b668-f42b089db9c0"
But in chat he told me: "Over the chat I can reset the activation count only which is not the issue right now".
Please, can anyone help me?
