Somehow my desktop got activated with an old Adobe ID that is associated with an email/password I no longer have. I can only see instructions on how to deactivate by having a code sent to the associated email...which I no longer have. Adobe denies that the computer is associated with that email, but Digital Editions says it is... Any clue how I can rectify this and get it activated with the new Adobe ID?

Macintosh:
quit Adobe Digital Editions.
Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash.
If you are using 10.7, see https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/access-hidden-user-library-files.html
Open Adobe Digital Editions and reauthorize.

The application.dat file does not exist in the current mac operating systems. Adobe deleted my adobe id because I did not have a password and now I have no way to deauthorize the old id and authorise with the new one. Shift+ command + d just opens the window where I need to add a password so that does not help. I have phoned adobe and they won't help me. I believe erasing that id was a mistake. Apple have tried really hard but can't find that file and it is not their software. I bought the first generation Barnes and Noble Nook and now I can't use an e-reader. I am desperate. Apple created a second profile for me on my mac and I was able to authorise with my new Adobe ID but it still won't let me borrow a library book and I think it is because it is the same computer and it is already authorised. Any suggestions? Please!
