Hello, although my computer is authorized to read content through ADE, when I try to open E-Books I get the 'Error. Check Activation" message. I have seen online that erasing authorization and reauthorizing is one solution, but I'm not sure what to enter for VendorID and password. Is there a way to recover this information? Are there other solutions here?
Best,
Ryan

quit Adobe Digital Editions.
Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash.
If you are using 10.7, see https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/access-hidden-user-library-files.html
Open Adobe Digital Editions and reauthorize.

Choose Start > Run.
In the Open text box, type regedit and then press Enter. The Registry Editor opens.
In the left pane of the Registry Editor, locate the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adept
Select the Adept key
Non sono riuscito a:
Choose File > Export.
Sono andato nello STORE di WINDOWS 10
E ho scaricato DREADER
E -SORRY- BUT IT WORKS. LEGGO QUELLO CHE CON ADOBE DIGITAL MI DAVA CHECK! ERROR ACTIVATION

THANK YOU! Thank you! Thanks so much for posting this solution. I was getting so frustrated with Adobe DE and my eBooks. Even though I now know that my Nook Color can no longer read eBooks through my public library--at least I can get them to work with ADE on my desktop computer. Your step by step directions were wonderful. Thank YOU again.

Hi,
I had the same problem you did and worked on it TOO long. I finally got a solution. I went back to ADE version 3. I can now download from local library and move to my nook. Give it a try.

Before I try this, I would like to clarify something that might be pertinent. I recently changed my contact email on my Adobe account (kept the same password). I have tried to deauthorize/authorize ADE, but when the box pops up it still shows my old email address, and will not recognize the password. Will the registry editor steps above correct this?

Can you help me?

Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) allows a limited number of "Activations" (what the answer is calling "ReAuthorise"). Once you reach that thereafter you will get an error that you have reached the maximum. There is no way to increase the maximum, there is no way the user can reset it. The recommended solution (by adobe community members) is to ask Adobe Customer Care to reset it. The issue many people are facing is Customer Care then tell you they do not support "freeware" - which ADE is. So you get screwed. Apparently some techies will and some won't - it's hit and miss. So you can't be too liberal with the "reauthorising". You can find many moans about this. It is nasty and has tripped up many people. Personally I feel if you buy a new pc/laptop/tablet you should be able to de-authorise the old one and this increases the authorisations you have left so that reauthorising on the new equipment balances out. Not so it seems. Every reauthorisation decreases your count by one until they are all gone. And when they are gone, they are gone. No other company thinks like that - just Arrogant Adobe! I dislike them more than I dislike Microsoft!
