Good Reader and I think iBook will both read pdfs. Protected e-books are a different story.

iBook for iPad supports ePub.
ePub "eBooks" with DRM are supported.
ePub and PDF without DRM are supported.

EPub is the standard format to read eBook on the go, so, many of us convert pdf to ePub for reading without blocks. And did you get the proper way to read pdf on iPod? Sharing with us will be great appreciated!

Do you have a Gmail account? You can save pdfs or pretty much anything to Google Docs and read them in Good Reader without having to convert.

There are plently of ways to read PDF documents on your iPhone. For starters it will need an app. Here is a list of PDF readers of portable reading devices.

Very funny, the posyer asked about how to read pdf ebook on IPOD, then people discussed it to a iPad or iPhone.

Basically, you can view PDF on the internet in Safari but maybe big file size will stuck you. Or download a Stanza eBook reader, it's free application to read ePub books on iPod, thus you can firstly convert pdf to ePub for reading with it. Create ePub from pdf with ePub Creation tool then you can read your own pdf books. And it also offers a lot of direct access to many popular public domain free eBook sites. I suggest you try it.
