I had authorized it before attempting the download. Today I borrowed another book from the library and it transferred to Digital Editions without a problem. Then I tried the original library book that I had not been able to transfer yesterday and it too transferred with out a problem. So it seems to be working today even though it was not working yesterday.

Thank you for your assistance.

I'm having the same problem with my Mac (OS X El Capitan 10.11.6), tried your instructions (ie, deleting the activation.dat file), and it didn't work for me. I have also tried:

- deauthorizing and reauthorizing with my AdobeID

- deauthorizing and reauthorizing without an Adobe ID

- reinstalling ADE 4.5

- inactivating my firewall

I can successfully open epub books from Project Gutenberg, it seems to solely be a problem with acsm files. Please, please help, this makes me very sad. Thank you!
