I have a Kindle Paperwhite and I've downloaded Adobe Digital Editions onto my Mac to be able to read an eBook I borrowed from my library. I'm using the latest version 4.5.11 and have authorised my computer. When I connect my Kindle via USB and open Digital Editions my device does not appear. No combination of plugging/unplugging/restarting/opening/closing gets this to work. Very frustrating as this is the only way for me to read eBooks from my library!
Is there any official support for this app or a way to check version compatability?

The fact it's been almost four years and no response from Adobe despite countless people reporting the same issue is incredibly frustrating

I just ran into this problem today when receiving an ARC from a publisher, which is a problem if this is their main way of distributing ARCs to potential buyers. I'll certainly be bringing this up to them when providing feedback. Thankfully, I was successful when using Send to Kindle as @russm77237037 suggested.
I don't know whether I should be more annoyed with Amazon's apparent incompatibility with the program (which seems to not be an issue for Kobo users) or Adobe for not addressing this thread a single time since the origial post in OCTOBER OF 2020.
