Hi,
In order to fix your problem you may follow steps as given below.
1) Once you will download books from your computer it will give you two options "Open" and "Save"
2) Click on save and it will save the book under C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\My Documents\Downloads or HD:\Users\UserName\Downloads if your are using MAC.
3) Now go to the location where you saved the Book.
4) Right click on the book and click Open With>>Adobe Digital Editions.
Or open Digital Editions click Library>>Add Item to Library and choose the book from the location where it was saved.
5) Now the book will open in Digital Editions
I hope this will help you

Thnxz, this would be helpful and I went back and see if they had the Save button, but the library ebooks don't have that option...does anyone know why this happens?

This is of no help. I do not have any option to either save or open. I've downloaded a book 3 times and nothing.

My library has an option to download "OFFLINE". Do you you see that after you borrow from your library book? The three options I have are READ (which I believe is read online via library website) RETURN (which means just that. Reutrn back). And directly under that is a line which reads DOWNLOAD FOR OFFLINE READING. (meaning you don't have to be connected to wifi)
Then that will download book to to a directory on your pc.
These are the three options on my library's site after you borrow a book.
Then I believe there may be two ways of retrieving it. Like first participant said above.. if you find the file on you pc where it downloaded you click it and a pop up should ask how to open. I click on ADE. It pulled it right into ADE. Then, there is a way to open ADE and click on File and then click on ADD to LIBRARY and then you'll have to navigae to your pc DOWNLOAD files and select the book. That should work too. (BTW . I am using Win 10. Not sure if you are though). I hope this was helpful and you can get back to reading books.
