Hello everyone! Adobe Dimension 4.0 is now available for download from Creative Cloud!
Adobe Dimension 4.0 is being updated to incorporate some of the same underlying code components as Adobe Substance 3D Stager, particularly in areas like rendering, lighting, and material handling. This update puts Dimension on a more modern and maintainable codebase, ensuring the application is more stable and secure for users. Consequently, users will see some changes in the software – most notably in rendering capabilities and material workflow, as well as minor functionality and quality improvements throughout the application.
Here is an FAQ with more details on the changes:

The Adobe Dimension and Substance 3D Stager comparison FAQ page has also been updated:

No, no, no 🙂
It is not about that 🙂
I saw Your materials on YouTube and they are awesome!
Check that link and this is what I'm talking about:

I saw the link to Adobe's Physical Lights. I know what you mean, it is not clear where those options are. I have to play with it some more. I found a couple of videos on custome lights, but one is 4 years old, it will help undersatnd how it works, also there was a video on Adobe Dimension Help section and it was release in August 2024.
here is what I have found on my Dn 4.04
this screenshot shows that on the right panel if you select Environment and scroll down to where you see Ground - Background - Lights, select lights and then there is a + where you can have all the different controls or properties to use those lights. I hope this helps in the meantime I'm going to dig through this, but I have a few other projects to finish I know what you're going through is so annoying. dimension team throws stuff on us, but they don't have a concrete explanations..

I think Adobe has mixed up their info on Physical Light with Adobe Substance. You are right I don't see that in Dn 4.04. I will call Adobe tech to let them know about the mix up, I hope they prove me wrong, because I would like to use it. I'll report here what my finding a are..
FYI, that feature used to be in Photoshop 2021, version 22.2, which you can still download and use, it is the last fully functional 3D in Photoshop.

Well, that's interesting to know I spent over an hour speaking with David from Adobe tech and he was kind enough to check the information for me and I sent him an email with the link that you have provided me with and exactly what I thought that information pertains to Adobe Substance Stager. Somebody made a mistake and posted it for Adobe Dimension. In this link for Adobe help for Substance Stager, they had the exact duplicate instructions for physical light. Here's the link you can see for yourse lfhttps://helpx.adobe.com/substance-3d-stager/objects/physical-lights.html.
But I did find out in dimension you can actually click on the icon on the left of the + icon and it says Aim Light at point, click anywhere on the canvas and will control lights.
I asked him to remove the confusing Physical Light that was post July 2024.
I hope this information helps you an others.

This is due to the fact that the new version of Dimensions is nothing more than the same Stager without some features that have been and are in Stager for a long time. It would be naive to think that the Dimensions (version 4) is a newly improved version. Adobe started the entire 3D project with one program - Dimensions. Researched the market and needs. Later, when they realized that they were on the right track, they created a whole set of 3D programs and paid for it separately. In that suite of programs was a new program - Stager, as they advertised themselves at the time - "Dimensions on Steroids". I know what I'm talking about, because I started using all those new programs for my work and paid for them separately. It was just funny to me when I first opened that new version of Dimensions (4.0) - because I saw that it was just the same Stager that I was already using, only missing some features. Well, that's the story, and the answer to why it is.

Has anyone else noticed the measurement tool is not accurate.
If you change your measurement to inches under properties, it still measures and exports in centimeters.

I found this out after exporting to a 3d printer and everything came out very small.
I had to convert inches to centimeters in order for it to give me a 12 inch cube.
Adobe calls it 304.8 inches but it is actually only 12 inches.
This also caused the objects I created in the older version to shift and shrink.
Basically all of my older work is useless. Some of these projects took me months to complete
Where do I report bugs? How do I get the previous version back?

Yes you can download the previous version go to your creative cloud account and select dimension, and there are the three horizontal dots select other versions, but a word of warning, it will delete the newer version. Unlike other Adobe apps you can have two on your desktop at the same time.
it is too bad that the Adobe tech is not noting these bugs that we are reporting here, I have reported the lock icon on each layer you can't tell if it's on or off they need to be an icon to show you a lock is unlocked, II called for that and nothing happened so far.

I agree. I really like the new look and textures but I'm not going to convert every object I have to make into cm.
The work I do is to spec, so that would be a pain.
I don't see version history as an option.

Hi there, it looks like Dimension does not support macOS Sequoia. There will be an indicator beneath the app icon in the dock when i launch it, but other than that, it does nothing.
I've tried all the usual things like reinstalling, removing all app prefrences, etc. but that doesn't seem to help.
Am i doing something wrong?

I contacted Adobe tech today to check on few other bugs I reported since 4.0 was released, and I mentioned the one about the measuring tool as well the lock icon on the layers - you can't tell if they are locked or unlocked- after a long discussion. The tech rep told me in two weeks. There will be 4.0.6 with bug fixes, and he said not to upgrade to sequoia because they are working off some of the Bugs. I don't know whether I should believe that or not but that's what they told me. Not sure why they are skipping 4.0.5 ?

Dimension 4.1.0 dropped recently, it still doesn't support macOS Sequoia. I also contacted Adobe a couple of weeks ago, i think the screenshot speaks for itself.
Adobe support has never been helpful to me. So, if i'm not paying for great apps or amazing support, what am i paying for exactly?

I just saw the update on Adobe CC, Did not want to venturei nstalling it yet. But on https://helpx.adobe.com/dimension/common-issues/stager-viewport-is-blank.html
there are few remarks regarding a Blank page and other common issues.
I'm waiting for Adobe tech to call me back, I would like them to tell me what is on this new update 4.1, they mention "improved Match Image lighting and general enhancement and other bug fixes."
so I want to know what are those bug fixes. I will report back once I get connected. it has been 4 attempts so far within 10 minutes, what a waste of time.

Great. Finally, I was in communication with Photoshop tech department. They do not have an Adobe Dimension department, but they helped me and answer the question that one person wondering if Dn 4.1 is compatible with Mac OS Sequoia and they have verified that it is .
Matbe your computer is old enough. Is it an M1 machine M2 or M3?

It's a 2019 Mac Pro (Intel). Specs:
24-Core Intel Xeon W, 48 GB DDR4, AMD Radeon Pro Vega II.
Should be more than fast enough to run Dimension. I've tried installing Dimension on another Intel Mac with a clean install of Sequoia, but it also refuses to launch there. Sadly, i haven't got any Macs with an M-series chip, so i'm unable to test if that works.

Your situation seems isolated, I believe it's your 2019 Mac Pro although Apple confirms that you can run Sequoia on it, but you might encounter some issues..
Should look into the Mac Mini M4, if you. Already have a monitor, you will be good to go.
Yes, macOS Sequoia is compatible with some Intel-based Mac models, but not all features are available:

I even went ahead and installed it on a 2019 MacBook Pro 16-inch (Intel/Touch Bar), just to be thorough. For the record, macOS Sequoia is fully compatible with my Mac Pro 2019 (as Apple clearly states: https://support.apple.com/en-us/120282). The only features missing are a few AI gimmicks, which I can live without.
Honestly, I fail to see the appeal of investing in an Apple Sillicon Mac mini at this point—it lacks expansion slots, and it doesn’t outperform my Mac Pro. Let’s not forget that a significant number of people are still using Intel-based Macs.
Adobe should either drop Intel support for Dimension altogether or fix it, not push the issue onto the customer. But hey, that's my two cents.
