Within Adobe Dimension can I use any starter asset models, materials and lights then export them to Photoshop to render a Psd. This PSD file can then sell it online? Does anyone know the copyright clause etc?

yes you can sell a image made of starter assets or with some starter assets included... the copyright is complex but basiclly your image is yours unless you are somehow saying that these starter assets are made by you or the main point of the file

for exmple; if you put your sister on a t-shirt with a starter square in the background then clearly your sister is the point of that T-shirt... if you just had the square it could be agued the asset is the point but even then its hard to see a copyright case being made against you

So if I created my own background and used a model starter asset like a laptop and then rendered it to a psd and made it function like a mock-up aka add a mask and a smart object to the screen - would the psd be ok to sell?

Mockup-for-sale-example.jpg

So this image (see above) would this still be ok to sell as a PSD mock-up? For other designers to use online?

I have used the starter assets in the Adobe library, add then added masks and smart objects, etc.

I would create some fictional artwork in the purple boxes - then others could use it for a mockup. Would this be ok for me to sell?

yes this image is something you made from starter assets but fine to sell as a Psd

however imo the Dimension file is what people will want because they can add their own images onto the screen i.e, this is my website as seen on different devices or here is your product in 3 different sizes

so the real question is would someone actually want to buy this image and what file type should be included but you are allowed yes

I'm also curious about this. Can someone shed some light on the legality of using dimension to render PSD mockups? I would assume there's not an issuer using the basic shapes like squares and spheres. But what about textures too?

if I used a texture to create the top of a desk, and then the coffee cup starter asset, can I sell the render as a "Coffee Cup PSD Mock-up" after I've prepared the PSD with smart objects? Or would I have to model my own 3D coffee cup and import into Dimension to avoid legal conflict?

IMHO user pays for assets and textures to use them legacy and it not refer only to Dn.

Hi all good points can some please shed some light on if you can sell 3D elements aka from the starter assets and then add a mock-up option via photoshop- would I be able to sell this without copyright issues?

Empixel, no I don't think it's okay to re-sell starter assets as 3D objects, as that is what they are. That definitely would be in an issue IMHO.

the assets themselves are covered by copyright yes so for example if you export a starter asset from Dimension as a Obj file and open that in Blender or Photoshop it is still a Dimension model and you could not sell it on (as a model) but you could make an image with it and sell the image
