Turbosquid .obj Model Importing?

Engaged ,
Jul 25, 2023 Jul 25, 2023

I just purchased a one-gallon container bottle with handle from Turbosquid. The renderings on this .obj file on Turbosquid look perfect. When I import the file into Dimension, it is huge! I have to scale it down to .01 just to see it. Also it shows lots of sharp facets vs smooth surfaces both in preview and rendered?

What am I doing wrong?

This is the file I downloaded:

I just finally received a response from TurboSquid and here is what they said:

"Thank you for contacting TurboSquid Product Support. Artists usually export the models without subdivision modifiers applied, as low-poly version, thus offering customers the option to use the model in more ways: games, for instance require a lower polycount, while film or close-up renders require a more detailed mesh and so a higher polycount, which the customer can set up for themselves having the low-poly model as

start by loading only the jug into Dimension on it own [press F] the focus on it and rendor so we know the issue is the model

next download another jug from Adobe stock... just pick on of the free ones for now and redor that on its own as well... once we know what is because of the models and what is just your system then we can decide

Thanks for the quick response!

I did as you suggested. I am attaching a PNG which shows the difference between the Dimension preview and rendered files as well as one of the Turbosquid renderings of the same model. You can see in the handle especially the difference.

I also downloaded the "a_jug_129.obj" from Adobe Stock and it rendered out fine, but it is all one piece (cap not separate) - so I guess the problem is with the TurboSquid model I paid for?

working left to right;

  1. the missing parts are because you changed the material to no standard and your cpu can't do the work... its only a preview
  2. the mid one has glow... thats why the lighting is so bright
  3. the turbosquid model is extra smoth because of the normal map

Dimension is working correct from i can see

We have exported the model as new .OBJ files with 3 subdivision levels, so hopefully, the highpoly version is better suited for your project needs now. Here are the details for retrieving the new files:"

I downloaded the new version they sent and that solved my problem.
