2017 update is continually crashing on start-up

Explorer ,
Nov 04, 2016 Nov 04, 2016

I have just updated my CC software to find that a number of the packages crash on start-up every time. One is photoshop the other is Dreamweaver and as a website developer isn't great.

Is there anything I can do to get these programs working or should I just wait for an update to happen

I am hoping Adobe reads all these posts and sorts out this problem ASAP especially as we are subscribers and are unable to use their products at the moment. Adobe get your act together and test these updates before releasing them on your subscriber

Thanks

Hi spacman75,

I apologize for your frustration. To be sure, we haven't heard of many crash issues with the latest DW 2017. It could be something unique to your computer's configuration.

Can you please send me your Adobe ID, location, and phone number over a private message? Click my picture and use the Message button. We will get in touch with you for investigation.

Thanks,

Preran

Only a few people are having this problem.  What does your Windows Event Viewer / Mac Crash Log say is the faulting module that cases DW to crash?

Most common problem:  LavaSoft Web Companion.  Uninstalling LavaSoft fixes it.

2nd most common problem:  Missing or Corrupted system DLL files.  Outdated graphics drivers.

Many of the Photoshop crashes are caused by a faulty Windows module.  It's a corrupted DLL file.  Renaming the offending DLL file seems to fix the problem.  I don't know but Dreamweaver might be effected by the same offending DLL file.   What do your Windows Event Logs say is causing your crashes?

Hi Nancy

I don't really want to go mucking about with my DLL file in Windows in case it looks up my windows installation! I've got a better idea how about Adobe releases a update that doesn't crash! LOL

You still have not answered the question.  What does your Windows Event Viewer say is causing the programs to crash?

It's a well known fact that LavaSoft Web Companion, HideMyIP and other 3rd party softwares can cause conflicts for all Adobe products.  If your system has problems that prevent apps form launching, Adobe can't issue a fix for that.  Sorry it doesn't work that way.

Go to the Event viewer to find out what is causing the problem. For more see https://www.digitalmastersmag.com/magazine/tip-of-the-day-how-to-find-crash-logs-on-windows-10/

Where do I find the information about DW in that mess?
I see a lot of info on what to do when Windows crashes but nothing in regards to DW.

Thanks

I have never had Web Companion loaded so there's nothing to uninstall. This is for the college web team, so we'll put in a ticket.

We were able to resolve our particular crashing by removing an outdated Vulkan driver and then replacing it with the latest version from LunarXchange. I've had DW running non-stop following that change.

What do your Windows Event Logs say is the faulting module?

If not on Windows, what do your Mac crash logs tell you?

Have a look at post #8.

Using the Event viewer, the poster at #10 was able to determine that an outdated driver was causing the problem in #14

Does this happen with all sites?

Does this happen with all files or just certain ones?

Are you working with error free code?
