Using DW CS6 (fully updated through Creative Cloud) along with fully updated WP install on a remote server.

I've seen lots of discussions about this and usually there's some "oh, it was port 8888" or "the permalinks have to be left alone" with very little further explanation. I did not change permalinks, so that isn't it. FTP works fine, too.

I'm using the Responsive theme along with a child theme. It did work once, when local. But that was when I used only the parent theme with no child.

Given that this is a key selling point for a software suite costing $50/month (only way to get updates now...), this should work, right?

The solutions that get listed have little substance and seem like workarounds rather than actual fixes. If you do know the fix for this, please, please, list the steps.

I've defined both testing and remote servers. Like I said, FTP works. I'm using BlueHost, if that helps in any way.

I'm NO expert in either DW or WP. I just would like this to work. If it doesn't, what's the point of using DW instead of Notepad++ or CoffeeCup HTML editor? Using DW and not being able to get the Live View or related files seems a bit of overkill.

I have a CC sub for more than DW, but really, DW, PS and LR are all I use. DW being what pushed me to subscribe. I honestly feel that Adobe should either state DW doesn't really work for WordPress dynamic files or they should explain how to make it work. References to other forums or Lynda.com for tutorials (I also have a sub there) is somewhat absurd. Can you imagine buying a car and being told by the manufacturer to check some forum for customer-supplied solutions to your car problems? Sure, our car can go in reverse, just check out the YouTube videos by this guy to figure out how. HUH?

I'd just like to be able to simply and reliably use DW to work on my WP install - not too much to ask. Is it?

73 views, multiple discussions about this same issue and yet not one solution. Wow.

I'm having the same issue.  New to both DW and WP, but I've found tutorials that walk me through every step.  I've hit a roadblock now...

I've used a ton of tutorials - and this site (Adobe) has this problem listed many times, so I've done searches for the problems/solutions. Most answers point to modified permalinks as the problem, but mine are set to default.

I'm thinking I'll just spring the $50 for DesktopServer and work locally and have that new import/export functionality. Hopefully that really works.
