Animated gifs and URL's - AGAIN - SORRY

Enthusiast ,

I have created many animted gif's in my time, but I have never created one with the URL embedded within it. By that I mean just to have the gif without supporting html file so that I can email just a gif to a website administrator who then simply uploads the gif with the embedded link because apparently, the website it is going on to doesn't have the ability to add in the link when uploading it to the website!!

Is it possible to export a gif without the html file and retain the image map or hotspot embedded within it?

Whenever I have built a site for somebody to be able to do banner exchange, I have always provided them with an upload facility to handle the image, but I have also provided a field in which they need to type the URL. I assume this is right, am I right though?

TIA

GIF images cannot contain anything other than graphic pixel information.
What you are seeking is not possible. You could, however, mail them a line
of code that will both link to the image on your domain, AND provide the
link you desire.

That's what I thought. Sometimes I just need to double check with others before going back to the client and saying it can't be done and they prove it can - after all, I'm supposed to be the expert!

I guess then the website in question is possibly only accepting flash files where you can embed the URL

Thanks for your input anyway.
