Create link option greyed out?

I am having a hard time understanding why I cannot highlight text, right click, and make link while in the WYSIWYG for DW2017.

In DW2016, I had no issues with this, and now I can't turn anything or any text into a link.

Am I the only one having this problem?

I can access them through the properties. And yes, these are classic .ASP files for an extremely dated intranet site that my company still maintains. Eventually, we'll upgrade to something with a CMS, but for now, this is what I'm stuck with. I can also go to Insert >> Hyperlink. But this doesn't explain why the "Make Link" option is there, but not functioning...

OK.  Support for ASP files has been steadily declining for several versions.   I think MS Visual Studio is on track to phase it out as well.    You can submit a Bug/Feature Request from the Help menu.

Until you switch over, I would suggest dropping back to an earlier DW version that had more support for ASP files.  If you didn't keep your old version, see screenshots below.

You can see in the drop down menu that I have my cursor over the "Make Link" and it's greyed out.

You're working with Classic ASP files?

Can you use the Link field in your HTML Properties Panel?  See screenshot.
