CS6 release date

Anyone know the CS6 release date?  I have to upgrade Dreamweaver and I'm hoping Adobe augments its "timeline" animation utility.

    I received an offer from Adobe to upgrade Photoshop Elements to Elements C5S at a reduced rate.  The offer expires April 4, so I suspect that CS6 would be coming out some time after that date.

    I stopped buying the full boxed version of the Premium Design suite, and purchased the subscription edition instead.

    It's been great, I pay a monthly fee and receive free upgrades whenever Adobe releases a new version.

    So I'm looking forward to CS6.

    Out of interest: What happens to the software when you stop paying the monthly fee?

    Does it stop working?

    I am fortunate that I can purchase CS5 at a discounted price for being a student, but I am a broke (and jobless) student. I got burnt on the CS4 update a week after buying CS3. I really don't want to make that mistake again, and I have considered waiting until CS6 is officially released.

    It's March 2011 now, and although six or seven months isn't too far away, I may not be able to afford school by then; the state is threatening to increase tuition by 75% to make up for budget shortfalls, which would mean that I would have to pay an arm and leg to get the program just so I can learn how to use it.

    Do I buy the egg, even though it is starting to become rotten, or do I hold out for the chicken, not knowing when the new batch of eggs will be laid, or if I will even be able to afford the eggs by then? It seems to me that given the situation, a bird in the hand is better than 2 in the bush.

    Any thoughts, or other options you guys might know about?

    From where I sit, DW CS5 isn't all that different from CS4 except for the PHP code and 'integrated CMS support'. If the bulk of your work is in PHP, WordPress, Joomla! or Drupal then yes, upgrading now might be a good decision for you.

    Otherwise, wait until you can afford another purchase (with student discount or otherwise).

    Same here, Nancy.

    I actually upgraded my Design Suite CS4 Premium to CS5 for the Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrator enhancements rather than Dreamweaver CS5 (which I still view as a modest upgrade).

    I've also replied to your question about what I want to achieve.  The problem with Flash of course is that it's not supported in Apple products.

    CS5 shipped in April 2010.

    Going by Adobe's usual 12-18 month upgrade cycle, I would not expect to see CS6 until at least Sep-Oct 2011.

    By Timelines, are you referring to the Timeline feature in DW which was dropped in CS4. That won't return.

    I just watched on Graspr an instructional video for DW animation that used a

    Windows>Timelines feature. Are you suggesting that that great feature is in

    DW's past and not its future? Inconceivable! Did Adobe shift it into

    another application? Fireworks maybe?

    That's correct. The video was probably created a few years ago in Dreamweaver 8 or CS3.

    Dreamweaver CS4 and CS5 do not have Timelines and they won't be returning in any future version. I think that's a good thing.

    As interesting as Timelines were in DW, they were created via some horrendously outdated and bulky Javascript. Rather than waste resources updating a little used feature, Adobe chose to remove it altogether and let users create animations in Flash which is far more suited to that task.
