Debugging extensions

So I keep thinking I must be missing something.

Currently, when working on an extension my debugging workflow is:

1. Add an alert where I think it would help

2. Re-package the extension

3. Quit Dreamweaver

4. Re-install the extension

5. Start up Dreamweaver

6. See if the alert helped me figure out the issue

This is really slow. What am I doing wrong?
