Documentation on configuring PHP with CS4 on a Mac?

I am trying to get Dreamweaver CS4 to run my PHP scripts, on my Mac running Snow Leopard.  I have been working on this for five hours.

Apache & PHP are all running correctly on my Mac.

I simply cannot get this to work.  I see the php icon and <?php  and ?> in red, and that's it.

I've searched Google and I am at a dead end..

Can anyone help me?  I just want to see the SIMPLEST example of PHP run in Dreamweaver.  I can create text files with php and open them in Safari with no problems.
