Everything else seems to work OK, BUT as soon as I try to edit preferences, it crashes.
Selecting sync setting also causes a crash
I have reinstalled and selected upload sync settings because I believe the sync files are corrupted and didn't want to download them.
Any ideas?

Can you please try Restore Preferences. That fixes most problems.
