I'm a beginner at web creation. Simple question. We want to create a new website in Dreamweaver CC and set it up so that content can be updated outside of Dreamweaver by other people. I think I understand that Contribute is toast and the Catalyst does not integrate with the latest Dreamweaver CC. i just want a simple solution for content updating outside of Dreamweaver by those who know nothing about web development. Can anyone help? Thank you.

IMO, Perch is not for a beginner.  One would need good skills with  HTML, CSS, JS, PHP & MySQL to set-it up.

That's over & above the aspects of responsive web design.

Theres very little html involved apart from adding some simple tags within the html. If you cant follow the very precise video in the link supplied then youre dust anyway and theres no css, js or php involved.

If youre working locally you would need to set up a local php/sql server environment but thats not difficult given you can dowload free packages which will do this for you, or if youre working remotely it would already be set up.

Not sure it could be any easier. I dont know anything about BC so whatever one does youre going to need to explore a new environment.

The connection details have changed but Business Catalyst works with Dreamweaver CC 2017.  See below for details.

Connect to your site using Dreamweaver

Basically, you build the BC site on BC's servers with the built in content management system.  I think that's a very good option for someone in your position.  However, your site must be hosted on Business Catalyst servers.  It won't work with any other hosting platform.

All other content management systems require significant understanding of back end programming, CRUD (create, read, update & delete) page creation plus server-side databases.  This is not a beginner's project. Even if you use an open source solution like WordPress, Joomla! or Drupal, you will need a thorough understanding of those frameworks.
