So what has happened to the database connections, bindings and server behaviors options. There are no DATA options in the insert bar.

I hope this is not going away.

Deprecated in CC.

Use the legacy extension to bring them back.

Just to add another voice. The loss of server behaviour etc and the move to cloud cukkoo land is likely to mean that I stop using Dreamweaver and probably drop out of web development - it's no longer worth the effort

Adobe dont care about coders. They killed Kollection, ADDT and now php basics.
Anyone knows that all of deprecated code could be updated.

Aaaaah! Macromedia times....
I think it's time to force us to leave this app, sooner or later we must find a better IDE.
Sooner or later Adobe will have only one star, photoshop. XD

Trust me, nobody can be more disgusted with Adobe than me....I guess I'm not the only one feeling like the redheaded step child, left abandoned on the street corner, with a melted ice cream cone in my hand, dirty underwear, and no good coding solution to turn to.

Not that this will replace all DW functions, but if you're looking at options check this out:

Looks mighty sweet. Be sure to watch their sneek peek video - awesome stuff.

Yes, years ago I had a major investment in Kollection, it was quite ahead of it's time and I did some amazing stuff (I thought) as a non-developer. Adobe then re-named it ADDT and then deprecated it. Server behaviours was all we had left, third party developers could hook into them and provide what the masses desired.

I can see the logic, the take-over of Business Catalyst, server-side functionality built into a proprietory platform that integrates with Dreamweaver, delicately shunting third party add-on developers and hosting platforms into oblivion. "Yes, work with us, we'll provide you with what you need and want." - Provided what you "need and want" is to be funnelled into a solution that, no doubt, many people make squillions out of, but that, perhaps, stifles the creativity that may be just a ittle bit more fun.

At the end of the day it's just business and if it doesn't fit the model, or the plan, then "see you later".

That said, there are a host of brilliant ideas out there, thanks dstoltz007 for the macaw link. Hey, sometimes you just need to break free! It's just a bugger when you commit to and invest in a tool and then it evolves into something else, leaving you feeling like a jilted lover.

I work with BC and Wordpress and with a couple of choice plug-ins, Wordpress beats BC hands down! AND the hosting revenue is much better. After all business is business.

What a sorry day when Adobe was allowed to buy Macromedia ... how the hell was that deal ever allowed to go ahead, don't you have a monopolies commision???

Dreamweaver - Buried the best tool ever after chnaging it to ADDT for a while; Kollection

Dreamweaver CC - Buried built in PHP support

It looks like they're winding down Fireworks now, the best web graphics software out there ....

The all powerful Adobe will plough on with their strategy and making millions ....

I just hope corporate Adobe falls flat on it's face eventually ... that would make me very happy indeed!!... Maybe a new Macromedia will surface one day....

Just adding another voice on the discussion, I am a Dreamweaver CC ACI, and been planning the CC syllabus update for my ATC. It came to my attention that now we have Muse for graphic web creation, Edge Animate to create HTML5 animations, Edge Reflow to create responsive websites and even Edge Code just for coding. Where does Dreamweaver fit in here?! I mean, it does all the same thing those other new tool do, but ... differently?! In my humble opinion, in this scenario, we should be seeing Dreamweaver moving in to the backend direction, not frontend! Therefore, support to PHP and server behaviors SHOULD be the main goal here.

I agree with you.

I have been waiting for almost a year for new update of PDO and MySQLi support in Dreamweaver, but still. There is no new update relating to this issue.

Hi Mr Ben Pleysier

Actually I am really interested with the extension, but I have to pay it quite expensive (I am from Indonesia).

Perhaps you should start learning Joomla that is free to use and create wonderful websites.

Look at these tutorials:

<Build a Joomla Website in 1 Hour! - 2013 (Joomla 3!) - YouTube>

<How to build a Joomla 3 Website - 2013 - YouTube>

Ben - I've had some bad experiences with Web Assist - I'd use caution when buying products from them. (though we don't have a lot of choices at this point, so it might be worth considering).

I have been purchasing from them for nearly  decade and currently own all of their products. No bad experiences.

I agree, the "NEW" CC version is useless to me without the PHP functionality.

Not only is all the functionality removed in CC (rendering all my classes and tutorials useless), but you are still SELLING the PHP extensions in Ext Manager!!  I thought it was me, so purchased a $60 ext and still cannot use it.

THEN when people posted a solution you made the link forbidden!!  Good Grief, I just want to use a PHP cart manager without paying $200+

Come on.

I have no idea what you're talking about.  This discussion is several months old and no longer active.  Maybe if you post a new topic and give more details about what you're looking for maybe someone here can help you.  You're not talking to Adobe here.  We are all just product users like yourself.

You might as well face facts that the old Macromedia community were abandoned by Adobe a long time ago, Adobe had their own agenda with the Macromedia range and will not listen.

Freehand - Great alternative to Illustrator - killed off ... OK I suppose it doesn't make sense to have Freehand alongside Illustrator but it had a lot of loyal users I'm told.

Fireworks - In the process of being killed off by Adobe, by far the best program for creating web mockups, ux design, web graphics etc ... a fast, intuitive, brilliant piece of software, Adobe announced they will be looking at new products to fill the gap left by Fireworks as the landscape changes.... Nothing has happened and no new product has been introduced that can replace Fireworks, it still remains by a million miles the best software for web mockups/graphics of all kinds .....

Dreamweaver - The old Macromedia Dreamweaver community have been abandoned in favour of what appears to be turning Dreamweaver into more of a WYSWIG for graphic designers with features like the CSS designer and live edit .... I have NOT come across a single experienced web designer/developer who likes the CSS designer feature and I would be interested to know  how they have built a roadmap for the development of Dreamweaver. The fact that Adobe did very little with the server side features in Dreamweaver from CS4 onwards tells the story that they had decided early on to phase out all the server side features ...

Adobe doesn't listen to the original loyal Macromedia community that's for sure, pretty much from day one they have been ignored ......

Well said. On top of all that, they went subscription based...might be fine for bigger companies, but I personally don't like it.

Adobe's roadmap doesn't paint a rosy picture through my lens.
