Dreamweaver needs an upgrade.

Dreamweaver doesn't currently live up to its name. But I have an unsolicited suggestion for that.

I'd like to have a chatbot that I could talk to built into the software. I'd like to be able to use ChatGPT and give it access to Adobe's code hinting and code completion features and open-source UI frameworks to create websites and apps conversationally.

Dreamweaver is no longer developed and only minimally maintained with bug fixes here and there. The features you long for (AI-based coding assistance) are already available in Visual Studio Code via addons. Make the switch, and join the future 😜

Pinegrow has already integrated AI features into its interface. It's more like dreamweaver than Visual Studio Code in my opinion, at least what it tries to achieve and works with a plugin alongside Visual Studio Code.

Regards!

Have you actually tried Pinegrow's "AI features"? It is a typical example of something quickly thrown together just to stay in the current trends...

It's only free for a certain amount of usage credits. You have to bring your own api key to the party to make use of it. I'd be slightly worried about what charges l may incur if l had to provide billing account details to get the api key. I don't know if that is the case or there is an option of a one time payment to purchase a higher amount of credit usage but stuff like that makes me a bit wary, that's why l personally stopped using Google maps and informed clients they would need to provide their own api key if they wanted Google maps included.

ChatGPT??  Ha.  Dream on....

If you want it, you'll have to build it yourself from open source code.

Adobe apps are not open source.

Besides Dreamweaver is in minimal maintenance mode.  No new features are planned except security and compatibility updates.

chat GPT used to be integrated into VSC. now we have to wait that GPT 3 allows it again... any way, that's why I was asking @rayek.elfin which addon was he using ?

It's amazing how using chat GPT helped me !

Hopefully it will die a death in the serious web-development industry in a short time. Co-Pilot was all the trendy thing a year or 2 ago, now no-one mentions it. Kiddies might play around with it.

Those kiddies are the same ones that had planned to become lawyers, notaries and general practioners until they realised that GPT makes those functions redumdant.

Where I live, lawyers, notaries and physicans have to pass a proctored State Board Exam to be licensed to practice.

If anyone relies on what AI apps spit out currently or in the future then we are in serious trouble, especially those sectors you mentioned in your post.

Hello everyone, not just @osgood_. I was wondering if any of you , except @rayek.elfin , have had the opportunity to use GPT during your development work.

I'm curious to know how you've used its features to improve your algorithms, reorganize your CSS, debug your code, explored alternative approaches, or even get help to read and synthesize the documentation for certain npm packages or add-ons,and get highly customized implementation examples.

As you can understand that this can be an added challenge when we also have to translate the information into our native language and express in our own personality through the phrases used.
However, I believe it can also be very enriching and stimulating.

In this spirit, I'm interested in hearing if any of you have discovered new approaches or techniques through this collaboration assistant. I hope this question doesn't come across as cynical, but rather as a way to exchange ideas about the benefits and opportunities offered by this technology.

And to take up the quotation highlighted at the beginning of this comment, what would happen if this technology were to be forgotten? For my part, since a few months that I put it to good use, I only feel comfort, fulfillment, a bit like a regeneration in my approach and improvement in the way I code. It is a great complement to the participation and cultural exchange found on the forums.

I look forward to reading your responses and discussing with you. Thank you!

I have had a chance to use GPT to populate a site with text. I did this instead of using the usual Lorem Ipsum.

Great tool, but as yet I will leave the coding up to Wappler.

I didn't get passed giving chatGPT my phone number, l didnt get the chance to ask why it needed it just to take it out for a test spin.........humm.....and why it requested a verification email address but obviously doesn't take that at all seriously..........and this thing lm lead to believe is intelligent. It obviously fails in the street wise department.

Welcome to the digital age and 2-step authentication.

Discord powers ChatGPT and AI diffusion services. To access, you need an account on Discord.

When you log-in to Discord, your mobile phone receives a 6 digit authentication code by TEXT MESSAGE.  Enter the code on Discord to proceed.

Yeah, I just don't know why they waste your time requesting an email for verification and then once you verify that they request a phone number.......might as well cut out the wastage of time/spoof email and go straight for the phone number. Anyway my research leads me to believe a lot are put off by giving out their phone numbers to these kinds of companies as they can get passed onto tele-marketing companies. I dont need chatGPT to the extent that I would provide it with my phone number. Would have been nice to play around with it but I have no intention of using AI for anything serious, now or in the future. As Ben pointed out I wouldnt want to go into open-heart surgery and have a car mechanic rely on chatGPT to guide them through the operation!

Maybe not.  But I'm convinced that doctors are using AI assisted apps.  My doctor as much as said so.  "I have this app I enter values into..."

Based on app results, I know my projected life expectancy, my chances of having  seizure/stroke/heart attack/diabetes/cancer in next 10 years and what meds & vitamins I should take.

Really, l wonder if there has been any study to determine the accuracy of such critical tests and information. I'm very skeptical of what's happening these days because it all seems based on guess work of an app rather than that of a skillful and knowledgeable human. Of course we all know how inaccurate sat navs can be at times and they are based on the same principle of information gathered from sometimes unreliable sources. As l said l would not want to seriously take any AI generated content at face value and that's a danger because we all know how each generation are becoming lazier and lazier and more dependent on gadgets and trends, rather than their own knowledge, research and skill.

At least get a second opinion from another AI source, lol before you commit to a decision or changing your lifestyle.

When I was young, the PDR (Physican's Desk Reference) was a big book that contained all known pharmaceuticals, their use, cross interactions, and side effects.  At the time, that's all that was available to doctors.

Fast forward to 2023 and the shear number of meds & compounds in use today is staggering.  The PDR today would fill libraries from floor to ceiling.

Auto mechanics to Xbox programmers are using AI in some form or another to do their jobs.  And if Elon Musk has his way, handheld apps will be replaced by Neuralink microchip implants.

I go back to what I said previously AI can never be guaranteed to be entirely accurate or safe. The more we become dependent on it the more 'dangerous' our lives will become because we'll be putting our faith in artifical responses rather than responses that have been researched by dedicated professionals. Its a sloppy approach, one which should be viewed as useful and fun but in the case of life and death, rather you than me.

I don't suggest for one minute that we rely entirely on AI to manage our lives.  It's a tool. Used correctly, I think it can be beneficial in some areas.

For example, I like the AI system that manages our city's traffic lights.  Since it was installed, traffic lights are much smarter and road congestion has been greatly reduced.  A+

But autonoumouse & auto-braking vehicles are still dicey.  They've caused too many accidents and stranded Uber passenges in unsafe locations. Basically they can't be trusted (yet).

This is one of the replies in another forum:

Decided to give a try to ChatGPT abou this wappler issue, this was my bad prompt:

Using the tool Wappler, I created an Server side API action that call a Google API and gets a Json in response. I will provide a JSON response in the next message, but it is a nested JSON and I am not able to extract specific values from the json response to use them in the next action in wappler server workflow. I can only get the full json but if I try to select a specific value then I get an empty value. Tell me what I am doing wrong and how to fix it. Being the desired success to be able to select a single value in the json response that is inside the nested json.

and in the next message I provided a sample of the JSON. Soon enough ChatGPT gave a solution that worked:

Captura de pantalla de 2023-02-17 23-10-23.png

Now its working.

Wappler, the only real Dreamweaver alternative.
