DW 2017 - absolute nightmare!

I upgraded from 2015 to 2017 and have spent days regretting it and trying to get things to work. Following numerous javascript errors trying to get the bindings panel working, in the end I gave up, uninstalled it and reverted to 2015.

If only it was that simple! Now 2015 is completely b******d and I can't install the vital extensions I need for doing database work.

Many hours wasted, and I decided to do a reinstall of Windows. Clean installation of CC, yet the problems remain.

Fortunately, My laptop copy hasn't gone through this farce and I'm able to work on that - whilst the desktop is now little more than a pile of useless scrap.

I've used DW for years (since UltraDev) and never got in this sort of mess before. Oh for the days of a CD/DVD installation disk!

Not at all impressed.

#1 Run the CC Cleaner tools below to wipe CC from your system.

Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems

#2 If you have Lavasoft's Web Companion on your system, uninstall it.  It's a know conflict with Adobe products.

#3 Download Previous Versions from your CC Desktop App.

I'm wondering if it's the DMXzone extension manager that's the root of the problem - I've had to go all the way back to Dreamweaver CC and use the adobe extension manager.

I think I saw similar in another thread elsewhere - there is a bug in 2017 in the bindings panel that prevents you clicking on a database field to add it to create a recordset; you need to write the code in place. This differs from every previous version.

I think it was reported elsewhere as being unable to drag and drop things in place ('un-technical answer, but it sounds similar to me!)

Hi Nancy

If it helps, when I try to access a recordset in the bindings panel, I get the following error:

While executing findDynamicSources in Recordset.htm a JavaScript error occurred

This happens on both my laptop and desktop.

I have reverted to 2015, which doesn't have any issues!

The only problem that I have with the deprecated Server Behaviours panels is that I do not see the '+' button as per

For the rest I do not have a problem in Dreamweaver CC2017

It could be that the cache file has been corrupted in which case have a look at Deleting a corrupted cache file or if that does not work, rename the Configuration folder to Configuration-bu or similar. You will need to restart Dreamweaver whichever method you have chosen.

Also have a look at JavaScript errors in Dreamweaver which gives similar answers to your problem.

Thanks Ben - 'been there, done that'!

The error only displays if the bindings panel window is open when DW starts (and there is a dynamic page open) OR once the bindings panel is opened.

I too have the + button issue.
