Question

DW Development Toolbox

I actually have two questions. Is the DWT the same as extensions? If I want to create dynamic web pages is the cost of the toolkit worth it. It appears to cost almost as much as DW.

Thanks

Well, what the heck? I don't remember seeing that and I have been watching patiently for it

Well, us 40+ geezers might be in need of some new contact lenses every now and then :-))

@Brad

-------
Although to my knowledge the CS4 version is not even in Beta yet. So who knows when it will be available
-------

on Dec 17 Cristinel, the ADDT product manager, posted a public invitation in the ADDT forums (meant for current ADDT users of course) to take part in the "compatibility release for Dreamweaver CS4" Prerelease Program: http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b74a9c/0

@Mystifier

Releasing CS4 without the toolkit is irresponsible and makes CS4 of little value
------

Dreamweaver has lots of value for non-ADDT users as well, and in the past any new "compatible with..." MX Kollection version was also released after a new DW version saw the light of day -- as many other extensions too, which have to be overhauled to make them compatible with new DW versions.

Thanks. That's WONDERFUL to hear!! I just emailed her and offered to test in CS4 using ASP/VB and MySQL. I am happy to help if this can get ADDT for CS4 out the door more quickly. I have more than 100 sites needing it right now.

I have the same concern. I wish Adobe would take their purchase of Macromedia seriously some day. They seem to seriously miss the mark with web developers. They purchased Macromedia and then purchased InterAkt and took away the best extensions on the market. Releasing CS4 without the toolkit is irresponsible and makes CS4 of little value. How can they not see that?

ADDT is worth every penny and more to me. Although to my knowledge the CS4 version is not even in Beta yet. So who knows when it will be available. Hopefully soon ... best package I have ever come across.

They are built in ASP using the last InterAKT extension I could get. I will continue in ASP. Will the Developer Toolbox let me work in ASP?

ADDT supports ASP VBscript the same way MX Kollection did

Do pages update easily from InterAKT extensions to Developer Toolbox equivalents?
-------

in case your existing pages have been built with the latest MX Kollection version (3.7.1, AFAIK), and if they were built using the PHP_MYSQL server model (not ADODB), they´ll be compatible with ADDT and don´t need to be rewritten

Sorry......one more question. Do pages update easily from InterAKT extensions to Developer Toolbox equivalents? Or, do I have to rewrite the pages?
