DW: Do I SERIOUSLY have to restore my preferences Everytime just to fix the Preview-Browser error??

Okay I just paid $239 literally, to buy the Dreamweaver software. The Preview in Browser does not work. Once I shut down my computer and start Dreamweaver and make edits to my HTML document, no changes are made in the Browser Preview. I refresh the Browser a hundred times, still not working. I check out the forums for a solution, and the only solution was to "restore your settings". But then I have to go back and REDO all the modifications I made to the interface.  So does that mean I have to do this every single time I close and open Dreamweaver? Please, please tell me no....

I honestly don't think this is caused by DW.  Sounds more like a disconnect between your local testing server and the browser.

Chrome is notoriously sticky about caching.  A real pain sometimes which is why  I use Firefox as my default browser.   To disable caching in Chrome, you must have the developer tools panel open.  See link below.

@Nancy OShea Actually I tried viewing using Firefox's browser and it seems to be working. That's terrible that it won't work on Chrome, since it's the main browser I use. Thanks for pointing that out, I'll be viewing it in Firefox from now on

  • Are you using a defined site
  • Are you using a testing server, (required)
  • What version of Dreamweaver
  • What OS
  • what do you mean by, 'to buy the Dw software', you can only subscribe to Dreamweaver now?

pziecina Yes I'm opening the browser in Google Chrome. Yes I'm using XAMPP as my testing server. I'm using Dreamweaver CC 2017.0.1 Release version. I have a macOS Sierra version 10.12. By "To buy software" I meant subscription. The program costs $239 annually, correct?

OK.  We have more info this time which we were not privy to before now.

You have XAMPP defined as your testing sever?

You have placed your site folder inside the default htdocs folder inside XAMPP?   And XAMPP / Apache is running?

Connection is using Local/Network

The Web URL is pointing to http://localhost/yoursitefolder/

And you have defined the Server model?

Assuming the above set-up is correct & your testing server is working, you should see current files on your testing server each time you save a file.

Expand your Files Panel to confirm the date & time stamps are the same.

In CC 2017, right click on your open tab and select Open in Browser > choose your browser.  Don't use F12.

Real-Time Preview has some reported issues.  Sometimes it works great, sometimes it doesn't.    I keep browser windows open all the time so I can make edits, save and then jump to my open browser tab and hit F5 refresh.

@Nancy OShea Hi Nancy, I appreciate your help but your suggestion does not work. I tried opening it using the Tab but the browser still shows up unchanged. There is definitely something wrong with the Dreamweaver problem. I really need this resolved because I'm not spending $239 for a program that's going to intentionally screw me over.
