Extension causing BIG trouble

Guest

I installed the Softery support form extension and at once got a message saying an error message over and over that there is a javascript error (error 2) and is unable to open TabControlClass.js. It pops up when I open Dreamweaver and whenever I hover over the Command menu. I deleted the program in the Extensions Manager but it still pops up? Any message sent, ironically, using their "24 hour support" form has gone unanswered. Are there any files that I can delete that would have come from the download?

You would need to re-install the extension - then, in the configuration
folder (depending on version and install options, it could be in plenty
of places, but it should be searchable to be able to find it). In the
configuration folder, a folder for extensions will have the MXI file in
it for the extension, you will need to load this up (XML) and remove all
of the files it installed (then delete the MXI as well) and you should
be set at this point. I've never heard of that company so I don't know
a thing about them.

OK. I think I found the folder in the configuration folder. You lost me after that. Can I just throw it away? Thanks a ton for your help

NO! You need to open the file. The MXI file is an XML file, on the
bottom it will list a series of files for the product, you need to
remove these files (then you can throw away the MXI file). The
configuration folder contains all of the extensions and user settings,
throwing that away would make DW un-usable.

OK. I think I found the right file to open, however, when I go to the folder to find it they were not there. When I did a search, then, it appears they are in the Dreamweaver 9 folder instead of CS3? Would moving them to the right place work, or should I just delete? Thanks again for you assistance. It's meant a lot ...

I think DW9 is the right folder, keep in mind, you should have two
configuration folders on your system, one for the default DW install and
one for your login install. One will have a lot less than the other in
files available. I don't have CS3 in front of me now, so I don't have
an exact answer for you. And I don't have their extension, so I can't
offer exact advise either - if you have the MXI open, on the bottom, you
can find where the TabControlClass.js is supposed to be and do a search
for it, you may be able to repair the install by moving it where the
extension is expecting it to be.

Before going all hack-n-slash on the folder and files, I would make a
back up just in case you do something wrong so you can recover. It may
require a little investigating beyond this point to get it right, but
with the backup, you should be able to remove all of the offending files
(or add the missing one) and then uninstall the extension and be on your
way.

I deleted all the files that were labeled in the xml file, but I still get the same error message. Furthermore, when I do a find for that tabcontrol.js file it's not found? Should I just reinstall DW?
