Hello Everyone,

Hope you're doing well 🙂

We would like to inform you that "Extract Panel will be unavailable in Dreamweaver from July 01, 2022"

Beginning July 01, 2022, feature workflows in the Extract panel will be unavailable in Dreamweaver. We advise that you use Photoshop instead to extract style information and assets for PSD components for use in Dreamweaver.

Thanks,

Harshika

I agree with you all. I have been using Dreamweaver for more than 10 years and I have a strong feeling that this App is on its way out. Various futures keep disappearing and nothing new is replaced etc.  I am surprised that they still selling books about learning Dreamweaver while options in the App are being removed etc. Dreamweaver is already far behind many other tools that you can use to design and create modern websites in no time like WordPress, Webflow etc. I am as well very surprised by the way Adobe Doesn't modernise this great tool... Time to move somewhere else.

We've moved quite a few of our   clients websites from Dreamweaver to WordPress and barely use Dreamweaver these days apart from our larger enterprise websites businesses with custom PHP or when we need to custom code which i think beats a lot of other IDE's.

Wordpress can be harmful if not set up and maintained correctly. And can be pretty slow if caching like Litespeed is not used especially if using builders like elementor

This Dreamweaver Extract Panel has been a great help to me in teaching coding to my students, and in providing them with the essentials they need to know to code in the web. I would appreciate it if you could let me know if this is just a temporary removal of the Extract panel, Thank you.

Well, it's true that extract panel could be really useful to be used directly within Dw... however, at the time and before Extract Panel, Matt had already proposed magical extensions for both Dw and Fw . And they are still doing the job.

If you feel like it, here's some old reading, but ...;) :

Should I migrate from Dreamweaver to VS Code or Figma?

I understand that Dreamweaver is in maintenance mode, but Adobe has acquired Figma, and its direct competitor XD is also in maintenance mode. It's strange that there was no announcement of Figma in MAX2023, but will there be an announcement of a transition from Dreamweaver or XD to Figma in the future?

I feel like I should move to VS Code, but I'd like to see Dreamweaver templates, libraries, and check-in/out functionality in VS Code extensions. I can't migrate because I don't have anything to replace it.

When Adobe deleted the server behaviours panels and made it difficult for extensions to be included by scrapping the extension manager, I saw the the end of Dreamweaver coming back in 2012.

Fortunately, DMXzone - an extension supplier - saw that their business was under fire if they relied on Adobe for their future. DMXzone then decided to create a Dreamweaver like application which they called Wappler. The extensions that they produced for Dreamweaver, became available as free addons for Wappler.

Fastforward to today, I use Wappler for my web development. The devopment time has been reduced by at least 75% due to the low code editor, making the investment more than pay for itself.

Wappler shares the same Monaco editor that VS Code uses. IMHO, if you do not want to fork out the money for Wappler, VS Code is the go.

Forget templates and libraries, these are Adobe creations and will not work outside of Dreamweaver.

As a side note, I develop my websites using NodeJS as the serverside model. NodeJS/Express has a unique layout/template page that is far superior to the Dreamweaver templates.

Have a look at the video series that I am currently working on:

Boutique - Part 1 - YouTube

Wappler is the DMXzone-made Dreamweaver replacement and includes the best of their powerful extensions, as well as much more!
