I am very much a novice at DW and follow a well worn path to update my website. Over the last couple of days when uplaoding jpegs I get error message 'file activity incomplete - files or folders were not completed'. If I come back late in evening or the following day and try to upload, the files complete. Internet is good, I have rebooted mac and DW. Probably operator error...

It's difficult to say what the problem could be. If your Internet is good then it could mean your remote server is slow or if its a shared server others could be carrying out processes at the same time as you so it will become overloaded with activity and may drop out. The fact that you can upload late in the evening may or may not confirm this. Of course it could be something else.
If these circumstances continually happen to me l would initially try to upload the files through another ftp client, then l would try an upload to an alternative server if you have one. These simple tests may point you in the direction of where the issue is occurring.

Maybe your server is busy.
Who is your hosting provider?
Are you on Shared hosting (with other domains) or private VPS/Dedicated hosting?

I think its Verizon (formally Yahoo) - As to your 2nd question I am working with only one domain - i think that's what you're asking.
I usually load pictures by creating folders on dreamweaver and dragging them onto the page from there. When i took the image out of the folder and dropped it into the 'site file' and added it to the page it did upload... i dont think i am helping mysef much here, as I said i am very much a novice and follow the narrow path I was shown quite a while ago

I see. So you're on shared hosting. In other words, you share server space with countless other websites. Depending on how many sites and how busy they are, your server's performance may vary, like a commuter traffic jam during rush hour. Private hosting is better but it costs more than shared hosting.
If you continue to have performance issues, you might want to shop around for a better a web host that offers private VPN servers.
