Find & Replace save/load query missing (Dreamweaver 2017)

Updated to the 2017 version of DW and quickly found out that the load / save query option in find and replace is gone.

I regularly have to use this feature to add inline styles to the p tags of text that will go into an email (and various other functions)

Now this is removed I cant load my query to add the font styles, sizes, colour and other CSS attributes without manually copying and pasting the changes into find and replace. This adds a considerable amount of time to production slowing the work flow.

Therefore I have had to revert back to the old version. This feature missing makes the new version not adjudicate for the job.

When will the feature be back?

Hi everyone,

This option is not on the future roadmap for the product. If this is something that you really need, please post an Idea, and solicit votes for it. If the request gets enough traction, I can check with the product team again.

Thanks,

Preran

Saved queries was one of the only reasons I keep using Dreamweaver. This is a massively useful feature. Why would you ever have wanted to remove it?

Hi,

As per the new update Dw CC 2017.1, we have added registry entries to enable Save and Load Query options. Please follow the steps as below-

  1. Download and install Dreamweaver CC 2017.1.
  2. Close Dreamweaver is you're running it currently.
  3. Depending on your operating system, do one of the following:
    1. On Windows:
      1. Open regedit
      2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Dreamweaver CC 2017\Advanced Find And Replace
      3. Add a string value “ShowHiddenOptions=TRUE”
      4. Close regedit
    2. On Mac:
      1. Use finder to navigate to ~/Library/Preferences
      2. Open Adobe Dreamweaver CC 2017 Prefs using a text editor
      3. Find “[Advanced Find and Replace]” section and add "showhiddenoptions=TRUE"
      4. Save and close the file

     4. Relaunch Dreamweaver

Note- If you still can't find the folder in the registry, try clearing preferences.

Niharika Gupta

Hello!

Thank You very much! Save and Load Query options work's again!

But two little things for Mac ver.:

  • ~/Library/Preferences is hidden folder
  • [Advanced Find and Replace] should be [ADVANCED FIND AND REPLACE]

I'm using OS X 10.10 and I don't know exactly how this will work in higher or lower versions of Mac OS...

Hi,

Yes, everything is back and we have additional things as well. Regex works in both Ctrl+F- Quick Search bar and Ctrl+Shift+F- Advanced Find and Replace dialog. Please check out Dw CC 2017.1 for trying out all these and share with us your feedback.

I have followed these instructions and I still don't have the option to load or save search queries.  I am on a Windows 7 Pro.  This option worked before I upgraded to cc 2017.1.

Here is a screenshot of my regedit.  I have toggled between it being enclosed in quotes or not and still get same answer.

Hi,

The registry entry that you have added has some name- "New Value #1" which is incorrect. Please make it look like this-

Despite enabling hidden folders on my Mac, I was unable to locate Adobe Dreamweaver CC 2017 Prefs

I'm running OS 10.12.5 and Dreamweaver is up to date at 2017.1.

Hi,

Can you find the hidden Library folder on your MAC, if not, can you please try following the steps below to navigate?

The User Library folder is hidden by default in MacOS Sierra. And remember, the system level /Library folder is different from the user level ~/Library.

  1. From the Finder of Mac OS, pull down the “Go” menu and hold down the SHIFT key
  2. Choose “Library” from the drop down list
Access user Library folder in Mac OS
You can also hit Command+Shift+L from the MacOS Finder to immediately jump to the ~/Library directory of the active user account.
* Note that in older versions of MacOS and Sierra you need to hold down the OPTION key rather than the SHIFT key.
