ftp setup question

Participant ,
Dec 27, 2006 Dec 27, 2006
sorry if this a repeat question, but i'm stumped. i've set up a number of sites previously, and never had a problem using the ftp with dw. my typical setup has been

ftp host: ftp.mysite.com
host directory: public_html/
username
password

never a problem.

now i'm trying to set up a site on a new dedicated server host and these same setting don't work. as an aside, i'm using cpanel and when i set up the ftp user i noticed the directory is /home/wwwcoun/public_html/, so i alternated this with a simple public_html/ but it didn't work. suggestions please. thanks.

murray,

i'm embarrassed to say that it turns out i had the dns setup incorrectly. the account had been set up incorrectly with two servers. i had set up the domain name with one ip address and i asked them to remove one of the servers. they removed the server with the ip associated with my domain name. finally, i went in and changed the dns settings and waited a couple of hours and now i'm back on track.

many thanks. this a great forum . . .

Try -

FTP Host - www.mysite.com
Host directory - BLANK

Can you connect? If you can, tell me what FOLDER names you see on the
remote folder list.

If you would be willing to send me the connection information offline, I
will see if I can figure out what to do. Send it to

forums at domain, where domain is replaced with great-web-sights dot com.

1. Get domain name
2. Get hosting
3. Define Remote site with FTP information from host
4. Upload files
