Hidden characters do not show with this selection: View > Code View Options > Hidden Characters

Hidden characters do not show with this selection enabled:

View menu > Code View Options > Hidden Characters

This does not work today nor last night when only two of my ten students could see them using this setting (they were remote using different computers). I have rebooted my iMac OS12 and done various tests within Dreamweaver with no success.

Thank you in advance for any solution.

To troubleshoot,  can you provide a code example where hidden characters are not displaying in Code View?  Don't use email to send code. It won't come through to this web forum.

Also, which code color theme are you using in Dreamweaver Preferences?  See screenshot.  Depending on your color choices, hidden characters might be present but hard to see.

Thanks for the help. I have been using my own customized code color scheme for a long time and have always seen the hidden characters in the past when that option is enabled. The hidden characters do not appear in my or most of my students code view.  Here are some screen grabs using two different code formatting options: dark and classic. And you can see that hidden characters is enabled in the menu. I don't think this needs trouble shooting by me or my students. I've rebooted my mac, Dw a few times. This is probably a bug.

With myself and my many students having the same problem on their personal machines I don't want to go through all the standard machinations. I'll wait until someone else chimes in. Thanks anyway.

Adobe representatives are few and far between here in the user-to-user forums.

If you're not willing to conduct standard troubleshooting, especially simple steps like resetting preferences, you're going to need to contact Adobe Customer Care directly.

For what it's worth, thier first step will very likely be to restore your preferences.

You can contact them via the chat button (bottom right) or by phone here: https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html during normal business hours.

Be careful about working with anyone via the forums private messaging service, it's abused by scammers pretty constantly. Adobe reps will always have an adobe staff badge and @Deleted User email address.
