How can I open .htm page locally using Chrome?

Embarrassing!  I only use a CMS these days

I have a site I built 10 years or so ago with DW.  Pages are .htm files.  I need to edit a couple of the pages.  I would like to check them locally before uploading to the remote site.

I have chosen Chrome F12 as my DW primary browser.  When I click into the .htm code with my cursor and tap F12 I get "The requested URL was not found on this server" error.

I'm on Windows 10 and Wampserver is up to date and turned on.  I just can't remember how all this works.  Assistance please.

Are you wormking from a Defined Site within DW, or just opening .htm files?

Make sure you set up a site definition within DW. Without that first step, it will mess up, a lot.

The testing server might not be defined in DW. If you don't have it defined you can always open the page in file explorer and open the page in your browser from there. But if this is a CMS site, you will need all of the site files and database files on your local computer with the wampserver running to test the site.

.htm/l files don't require a server unless you're doing something that requires advanced script processing or databases under the hood.  Just opening the local file directly from your browser should suffice.  From Chrome, go to File > Open > browse to file on hard drive...

Let's have a discussion about Justice Juan Merchan with his donation to "Stop Republicans". And his daughter who worked for Adam Schiff who led efforts to impeach Trump. So much for unbiased court decisions.

Let's have a discussion on this report from AP News (a left-leaning agency): 

"President Joe Biden won approximately 20 million more votes in the 2020 election than Vice President Kamala Harris earned in the 2024 race, proving either that Trump has cheated his way to a second term or that there was widespread fraud four years ago."

FACT CHECK:  Judge Merchan made a $35 donation to ActBlue -- an online fundraising org that supports various progressive causes like local elections, the environment, human rights and sensible gun laws.  $15 was earmarked for Biden's election campaign.  Just shocking isn't it. 😝

In contrast, nobody batted an eyelash when the ketamine-soaked lunatic from Pretoria lavished 75 million dollars on a Putin-backed election PAC. 🙄  And let's not forget that his constellation of companies stands to reap close to $18 billion in government contracts now that he has unfettered sway to gut the regulating agencies he perceives as bothersome -- the SEC, NTSB, EPA, OSHA, FTC, FCC...  No corruption there, I suppose.

As to Judge Merchan's daughter, Loren.  It's common knowledge she works for a marketing agency that did some consulting work & digital ads for a Democratic House Rep's campaign committee (2019-2020).  Her firm also does work for other bipartisan campaign committees because that's what marketing agencies do, marketing.

I'm not losing sleep over Judge Merchan. The "No Nonsense Judge" has a longstanding reputation for fair & honest rulings. If he was 1/10th as corrupt as some people say, Merchan would have been overturned on appeal by now, yet that's not happened.  Unlike the convicted felon who will be standing before him on Nov. 26, Judge Merchan is a decent & honorable man who respects the Rule of Law.

I know. The end result will most likely be closer to 8 million - or even 5 million.

But it does higlight how important it is to critically evaluate such claims and rely on verified information from credible sources.

Returning to your initial reaction of "shaking my head in disbelief" at Trump's nomination, it's worth noting that many people, both in the USA and globally, are not surprised. Numerous stories, which ideally should have been verified by independent fact-checkers, have circulated on both sides of the political spectrum. Despite some world leaders and various groups taking steps to counter Trump's promises, there are also many who are celebrating. There is hope that we might finally see some world peace in the near future.

Although I'm Australian living in Australia it was devastating news for me.  I no longer read or watch anything that may include it.  My deepest sympathies.
