How do I copy a Navigation Bar?

I've created a Navigation Bar, and I want to copy&paste into other documents, or into a cell in a table.
But it stops working after the simplest cut&paste I can devise.

What don't I understand here? Sure would LOVE some help.

I know what you mean, I haven't found a specific fix, I tend to go the other way and build a template including the Nav bar and paste other stuff in. If you find a better fix I would love to find out.
