I am looking for a recommendation on an open-source shopping cart

Hello All,

I am not sure if this is the correct place to post this question, if it isn't please let me know the appropriate area.

Anyhow, as the title states, I am looking for recommendations for an open-source shopping cart, something fairly basic, nothing too fancy. I just want the user to be able to select from a list of choices and have them able to add one item, return to shopping and add as many more as they like before checkout.

A few years ago I was working with ZenCart but at the time it seemed a little clunky. Perhaps it's better now, perhaps one or more of you out there will have a different recommendation.

Thank you in advance for your help and input!

Sincerely,

wordman

If you mean by open source that you can get into the code and make your own modifications, you might want to look at http://www.webassist.com.

gary,

Thanks. Yes, you know, open source software like phpBB and others you can install on your own server...and preferrably free.

I'll check out the link you sent. Thanks!

...and preferrably free.

It's hard to find anything that's remotely good for free, especially when the thing you want for free is used to sell items for profit. That just doesn't make sense.

If you're selling your items for free then you can find a free shopping cart that will work great for you - it's called an non-existant shopping cart. You get what you pay for, right?

PayPal shopping cart is free. Check that out. Zencart is also free, but as you mentioned earlier it's clunky. See a pattern forming here from the free options that are available? Like I said... you get what you pay for!

shock,

So...what about companies that use free open source forum software, say phpBB for instance, to promote their companies? There are plenty of free, open-source shopping carts out there, I was hoping for some advice if any were good or not. I am well aware of the pay versions, I figured it wouldn't hurt to check out some of the freebies.

Cheers,
