Implementing my page with Simple Layout not showing correctly

New Here ,

Hello - I created a page with Dreamweaver CC and used the Simple Template. Everything looks fine on my screen. I upload the files, image files and css file. When I view in a browser - none of the formatting works!  I feel like I am missing something basic --- something is not directed to the right directory or location but I can't figure it out.

the file is at www.sisterstea.com/index.html

Even when I create a new file with just the template --  Sample Template Basic Multi Column Layout and then save that file without making any changes.... formatting is still not coming through and the testing file just shows as text

the testing file is at

www.sisterstea.com/testing.html

I was worried I had corrupted the css file, so created a new testing site and then copied over the css file to the sisters tea site.....   and even the brand spanking new testing.html file is not showing any formatting.

Would appreciate help please!

Your css file is either not uploaded or uploaded to the wrong location.

Right now, the page expects a "css" folder to be in the same directory as the page itself. That would mean a site structure with the following...

css

     multiColumnTemplate.css
testing.html

The testing.html page is looking for lowercase css folder (servers are CaSe SenSiTivE) with a file called multiColumnTemplate.css inside it (capital C and T).

When I try to go directly to that location, I get a 404 File Not Found error.

When I

Your css file is either not uploaded or uploaded to the wrong location.

css

When I try to go directly to that location, I get a 404 File Not Found error.

When I change the case structure of your css folder in the file path instead I see your stylesheet.

Update your link to show capital letters for the folder, or drop the folder to lower case and it will work.

In the future, normalize your file names. Try to use only lowercase alpha numeric names, no spaces (use underscores or hyphens instead) and no special characters (@^&*, etc)

THANK YOU - an earlier file worked and I could not figure out what had changed. Had gone through the css file itself - and forgot that servers are a bit picky.

I knew it had to be something basic, but it was a "forest for the trees" type of thing!

Thank you for taking the time to respond.
