I have the latest version via CS.
But I dont think it's been updated in 2 years, and defintely no major new releases.
Is this a dead duck?
Any good applications to move over to?
Been a staunch user since the old Macromedia days...
Thanks

Yep, Adobe announced a few years back that they've moved DW to a "Minimum Development Status".
No new features, no bug fixes, just OS compatibility updates, security fixes and third party bolt-on library updates (though even those are lagging badly now).
If you used the visual interfaces for DW to make sites, Wappler is probably the best alternative.

Is Dreamweaver a dead duck?
It's been festering on the shelf for a while now, covered in a lot of dust, which probably will only keep accumulating until its choked to death. Realistically its seen its best days, there has been no positive announcements from Adobe which suggests that is likely to change.

What in DW is important enough to you that keeps you attached to it?

Nothing really, just habit. With my 2 main applications dead (Dreamweaver and Fireworks) - I can retire my CS license...

In my mind Pinegrow is what Dreamweaver could have been in an alternate universe. It seamlessly integrates with Visual Studio Code and provides a fully visual WYSIWYG design environment.
As @Jon Fritz mentions, Wappler is another good alternative.
Pinegrow and Wappler, while sharing their WYSIWYG design approach, have different foci, however.
Wappler is more aimed at building server-side applications, while Pinegrow doesn't include server-side development components and integrates WordPress development components instead.
So their respective usage context is quite different. In my opinion although both can be used for front-end design/development, arguably Pinegrow is the better choice for that particular job. If you intend to do any server-side app development using a visual workflow then Wappler will be the answer.
And yes: Dreamweaver has joined software heaven. One more scratch on the wall for Adobe.

Thank you.
What a pity they couldn't carry this forward.

Not dead yet. But in the interest of transparency, read the full answer below.

What do you need that you can't do with Dreamweaver?

Thank you for that detailed link you provided.
I needn't tell you that the industray doesnt cease to move forward... using a new application keeps the website up to date and can make my work more efficient.

No code editor can 'automagically' update an old site for you. That's a developer's decision to make in consultation with site owners & stakeholders.
Again, what do you need to do now that you CANNOT do with Dreamweaver? Please be specific so we can steer you towards appropriate solutions.
I still use Dreamweaver for coding & site management. But I also have other tools I use alongside it as no single tool can do everything.

well @osgood_ talking about Shelves, and @Nancy OShea who points out that he's not dead yet... this reminds me of two passages from a film anthology, and I couldn't resist sharing them with you.
