There are a number of ways to do this, and your choice would depend entirely on what method you use to build the navigation element. If you are using text menu buttons appropriately styled with CSS, you would only have to give each menu button a unique ID, and then include a little stylesheet on each page that sets the associated button's styling to the 'down' state.
