Konductor javascript errors in DW CS4

I have just installed the konductor extension (for allowing content management by my clients) and I can't get it to work. All I get is javascript errors. And the konductor properties panel isn't functioning - none of the editing options I can choose from show up there. I set up a test site following the (limited) instructions that are available, put a couple of editable divs on a page, and tried to define the settings for them. Here are some of the error messages I am getting:konductor1.jpgkonductor2.jpgkonductor3.jpg

I am a designer; I know very little about code. Can anyone help me get the extension to work properly?

Hey Kalynn, Andrew from Konductor here I guess the first couple of things that would help in really getting to the bottom of this would be knowing what version of Mac OS you are using (Apple Menu > About This Mac), and what version of the Konductor Extension you using (Help > About Konductor Extension for Dreamweaver...)

I know some older versions of the extension didn't like when views were switched from Design View to Split View or Code View - is this when the error seems to happen? If we could find out what you were trying to do when this happened that would be awesome.

Feel free to post what you have on the forum here, or you can Skype me at andrewodri if it's easier for you as well. We'll make sure your taken care of

I am using Mac OSX version 10.6.3.It is a brand new computer so it's a pretty clean system. Konductor extension version 1.1.1.

I was using split view, so I tried opening the test page in design view and I still get js errors as soon as I click on the editable regions.

My test page is just a couple of divs that aren't even styled. Just a heading div and a content div, nothing else on the page. I selected a div, used the Insert panel - templates:editable region - and made it an editable region. I did this for both of the divs.

I get the js error as long as I have either of the divs selected - even if I just try to go to any of the DW menus like File, View, Insert, etc. I get the error code as soon as I try to drop down a menu. Have I incorrectly assigned these divs as editable regions?

The site was set up going through the konductor new site set up process. Konductor saved the page in a folder called Templates as a .dwt When I re-open the site I use Manage Konductor Sites and follow their login procedure.

I am new to DW. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for your help.

Hey Kalynn, it doesn't seem like you are doing anything wrong, you are following all the correct steps.

I tried following the same steps on Mac OS 10.6.3, Konductor Extension 1.1.1, but could not replicate the error. These are steps I followed, let me know if I did something differently to yourself:

  1. Select the Sites > New Konductor Site > Empty Site... menu item and enter relevant details
  2. Select the File > New... menu item, select Blank Template, select HTML Template, select <none>, then click Create
  3. Switch to Split View, then create 2 div elements (I just did this quickly in the code)
  4. Select each div element in the design section, select the Insert > Template Objects > Editable Region menu item and enter relevant name
  5. Select the editable region in the design portion. At this point, the Konductor Property Inspector shouldn't show up (Due to the split view thing)
  6. Switch to Design View. This step used to cause an error, but this was resolved a while back. I want to make sure it hasn't cropped up again...
  7. Deslect the editable region, then reselect it. For me, the Konductor Property Inspector now displays.

After this, I rotated though a few different views and selection states, but could not trigger an error. I may have done something differently though, or there may be something different in my environment.

I know this sounds like the classic "have you rebooted your computer" question, but have you tried uninstalling the extension through Extension Manager, and then reinstalling the extension? Also, was the extension installed before Dreamweaver was run for the first time?

Let me know if I did anything differently and just quick yes / no answers to the above questions if you like. If these don't lead to a solution, I'll send you a special build the will help us fix the problem.

Thanks again helping us out with this!

HI Andrew,

I uninstalled Konductor, and any other extensions that were in DW to keep it as clean as possible for this test. Only AIR was left. Then I downloaded konductor again, and re-installed it.

I followed your steps to the letter, and no konductor properties panel appeared when I then selected the editable area(s) I had created.

As soon as I saved the document (File > Save) I started getting the same errors as before, thoiugh. I named the document "index" when I saved it.

Konductor saved it as "index.dwt" in a folder called Templates in the konductor site. The minute I saved it the errors began.

Any ideas?

Hi again, Andrew,

You mentioned that there had been an issue before with DW, and that it might have been resolved. Was it the same thing? Is there a patch for it? Thanks.

Also, the extension was not installed before DW was run the first time.
