Malwarebytes flagging Dreamweaver as Ransomware

Hi,

I have had Malwarebytes flag the Dreamweaver executable as ransomware twice now. In between the first and second time I have since reformatted my computer.

Is this a common problem with the two programs (or something similar to Malwarebytes)? I have searched Google a few times for the solution as well as these forums but to no avail.

Versions of each software are below:

Adobe Dreamweaver CC 2017

Malwarebytes 3.0.6 with latest definitions

Windows 10 PC.

It might be getting confused by the way the Live Preview works since it needs to talk to Adobe's servers to function.

Does it do the same thing if you're using the older Open in Browser (formerly Preview in Browser)?

To get to it, you can either right click the file name from the Files panel or, if your open documents are tabbed in the interface, right click the named tab of the document and choose Open in Browser.

That's a false positive. I'd like to know the exact URL you downloaded, and you should report the false positive to MalwareBytes. Or try running 3-4 scans with different programs or antivirus tools.

'Exact URL you downloaded'? I'm not sure what you mean by that.

Since my last response, I have uninstalled Malwarebytes. I was on the free trial and decided that if the AV was giving me trouble during the free trial, it wouldn't be worth my purchase.

But Adobe Creative Cloud is ransomware, to the tune of $50 a month for life...

Yes, getting the same issue. Not sure that it is connected with live preview though. I've been working on php scripts entirely in code view, so no page preview, but on four separate occassions over the past 24 hours, Malwarebytes has zapped dreamweaver.exe when I saved the file. Each time I've had to uninstall Dreamweaver, then reinstall v17.0.2 and then allow it to update. I even added dreamweaver.exe to Malwarebytes exclusion list but it made no difference. Each time Malwarebytes identifies it as ransomware then deletes the exe file and then requires a reboot to remove it from the quarantine. Strangely, the app is not listed in Malwarebytes quarantine.

After using it for a day, I believe that Malwarebytes doesn't like how Dreamweaver handles live preview. I will contact them and see if I can get this remedied on my end.

Thank you for your help.

I have the same set-up at home and don't have this issue.

Are you downloading DW from Adobe directly, or getting it from somewhere else?

I downloaded it directly from the Adobe Creative Cloud app.

If it helps, Malwarebytes has flagged it both times as I am saving a file while using live preview to display my work.
