MS Access Database, ASP Javascript, Connection String Problem

I'm on a windows 7 machine.  I setup an IIS environment, set up a site for ASP Javascript, following steps in a Windows for Dummies

(how embarrassing) book.  When I select window, databases and open

the databases panel, the plus sign is greyed out so  cannot add the conection string.  I'm wondering is this is doable on a widows 7 OS?

Or any other suggestions for me to check on - even a different book suggestion would work for me at this time.

What version of DW are you running?

On a different note, what's your reason for using JS over VBScript?

I am using DW CS5.  No special reason for JS - just following the example in the book.

As far as I know, ASP Javascript support is no longer included with DW. If you are going to use ASP, you are better off with VBScript, as that's what 95% of ASP installations use. Have you tried that yet?

I'm pretty sure you need to have a page open in DW to enable the plus sign. This is true for many DW behaviors as well, and it often downt make sense. I can be just a blank page, and you don't even need to save it. I would suggest using VBscript as well. Make sure this is all set up as such in your site definition. You absolutely need a testing server defined which declares the server model and location of the testing server.
