Multiple GUI related issues

Steps to Reproduce Bugs:

1.  Using Win 10 pro 64 bit, 27 inch NEC pa272w-bk-sv monitor set to 1920x1080, open Dreamweaver CC 2017 Edit Preferences Panel.

2. Using same setup, attempt to open a new php document window

Results:

(1) Edit Panel Popup Panel sizing/proper display is broken;

(2) alignment of mouseover (hover) options is off, can't select PHP option;

(3) both (1) and (2), effective usability of tool greatly diminished.

Expected Results: usable display of edit panel and coding panel.

Temporary fix: reinstall CC 2015 version. No issues noted using it with the same setup.

Suggestions: review usability team's methods/procedures to ensure optimal usability of product(s) before releasing new versions. It's fairly obvious CC 2017 Dreamweaver could use some work in that area.

Additional comments: same as others regarding color schema.

Hi Jan,

Sorry to hear that you are facing problem with DW.

Can you please check text size under display settings of your windows?

If text-size is set to greater than 100% then these issues will be seen. As a workaround I can suggest to switch back to text-size to 100% under system display settings.

Our team is actively investigating High DPI relaed issues and hopefully will be addressed in future releases.

thanks,

Lalita

Please file your Bug & Feature requests through the Official Reporting Form where the engineers will see it.   I agree with you.  This feels like it was rushed out the door.

Already done, Nancy. Just sharing what I found here for the benefit of others, in addition to burying it as a queued ticket.

Thanks for the help, Lalita.

Actually, your first post did the trick! Whatever happened when I reset the text size in the display settings, also must have corrected the issue as the Preferences panel is now being sized properly (pictured below). When I tried to reproduce the issue by increasing the text size, other than the larger thumbs and text size, the panel sizing seemed to be working properly. If it helps, what I was experiencing when I opened the Preferences panel was panel width of maybe 5-10x of what it should have been and I had to scroll horizontally forever to get to the far side of it. I also noted that when opening Dreamweaver CC 2017 that the green Dreamweaver "logo" and rasterized text in the opening splash screen seemed to be very jagged, sort of what you'd experience viewing an incorrectly sized jpg.

If it also helps, with respect to the Win 10 version I'm using, I upgraded to it the last day of its "free" offering by MS, on a Lenovo W530 that was being used with Win 7 Pro since about 2011. The machine itself is equipped with 32GB memory and a Quadro K2000M. Again, not sure what was causing the issue (Win 10 and/or Dreamweaver CC 2017, or some other combination), but I didn't experience the problem anywhere else (including in the CC 2015/2016 versions of Dreamweaver) so I of course suspected the CC 2017 version as being the culprit.

In any event, here's what things look like now:

Thanks again for the help!

Thanks Jan.

Few more questions to understand core reason behind the issue you are seeing.

Kindly follow below setps and let us know your result

1. Go to DW install location

2. Right click on Dreamweaver.exe and click on "Properties"

3. Switch to "compatibility" tab and check for "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings". Refer to snapshots below.

Is this check-box checked for you? Did you check this or was it checked by default?

Your inputs will help us digging and ultimately fixing this issue.

Thanks,

Lalita

Hi Lalita,

No, neither the CC 2015 nor the CC 2017 versions were set to allow disabling display scaling.

Hope that helps.

Hi Jan,

I truly appreciate your quick and helpful responses.

We have tried DW CC 2017 on Windows 10 with High DPI settings but we couldn't reprove the issues reported by you.

To fix these we would need some more inputs from you.

1. With High DPI settings ON, DW CC 2017 should behave normally. What is the case with you?

2. With High DPI settings, if check-box "Disable display scaling with High DPI settings" is set ON then DW will behave unusual.

We are seeing what we have mentioned in above steps. Can you please confirm if you also see same problem.

By High DPI ON, I mean that size of all items is greater than 100%.

Thanks,

Lalita
